Stop light between crack in cab doors and cabinet

My cabinet is all finished. Problem is with the doors closed there is a slight gap between the doors and the cabinet itself. Having a hard time figuring out what to put around the doors to stop light frmo getting in & out.

I was even just @ lowes a lil while ago and didn't see anything to make use of.

ideas?

that's tricky because if you seal it off completely to make it light proof fresh air will not get in. consider intake and outtake before worrying about light. set your light cycle so that it is dark when other people could be in the vicinity.

I cut my mylar so it over laps all the cracks around the inside of doors. I think that shields enough of any incoming light. Its worked for me for a long time. :hump:

Here's a link to a thread I put up about how I solved that problem. Mine is from a closet.... but you can do the same thing with pretty much any size cabinet / closet.

Good luck....

I have an intake and exhaust fan. They don't allow light in because they go through some 6" duct bent a few different directions...

That is a great idea. My cabinet is only 36" wide inside though. I wonder if they make those things that small...hrmmm

Yes they do. You will have to use a window curtain rod instead of a shower curtain rod though as they make the spring loaded curtain rods in smaller sizes. Make sure you get a sturdy one to support the weight of the blackout curtain.

I got the blackout curtain at wal-mart... I'm sure they come in smaller sizes... but you could always cut it down if not :D

I just LOVE the setup... I just open the doors and slide the curtain... no messy tape or plastic and it works great at keeping the light from intruding on my flowering plants.

Found this Adjustable Stall Shower Curtain Rod 24" - 38" at Underbid.com

My only concern would be that would be one dark side of my cabinet not reflecting light. hrmm....

i have the same problem. i went to my local canadiantire and bought some foam peel and stick weather stripping. it worked great. i put in around my entire cabinet door aligning it to make sure the cab would still close snuggly. cheap and effective, and they come it different thicknesses if needed.
