COOK simply means time spent with dampness + EWC + microbe food. It does need a reasonable temperature though (above 55f at the least).

Water-only is the cheapest, easiest way to grow and yields the best pot although I do use blackstrap molasses to add K and carbs here and there.

I don't fill the bottom of the pot with super soil I just use less N and P then transplant into it straight. Recycling the soil balances it out and makes it more coooperative.

I use Sub's recipe & like it just fine - I tend to add roughly double the amount of worm castings, but that's me.
And I don't layer the soil - the good stuff throughout the whole pot & never a burned leaf.
I recently stumbled across this on E-bay & intend on giving it a go next time.
I think its worth the $$ as I don't have to buy (and store the extra) the amendment ingredients - Pearlite + castings & away we go !

70F is plenty warm enough. DO add microbes. I just used my leftover tea every week to keep the numbers up. The more microbes, the warmer the soil is going to get because they are breaking down all of the organic amendments. It's the same as composting. 3 months is way more than enough time. The soil will go through a thermophilic stage, and you'll be able to tell when this is happening.. because its actually warm. If you moved your can out into colder air, you'd even be able to see it. Soon after that stage is over, which depends on how much organic material is in your blend, the soil should be mature enough to use. I followed Sub's recipe exactly, but at 1/8 volume, and the soil was at peak activity from weeks 2-4.

That looks pretty good, just add perlite earthworm castings and potting soil.

I think for bigger plants its cooler to use...bigger pots I should say. There is a reason he uses 7 gal pots.

Smaller pots dont do good. Bigger, I dunno.

1) allow roots to get to "hot" soil too quickly.
2) Dont gold enough SS to do the "water only" job till the end.


Not that its"no good" or anything. I know what forum I am on....lol...I'm not dissing sub.

Just real talk from my experiences.

So u r saying that organic super soil is just not worth it and that watering it only won't work if I'm wrong is there some pre made I can bulky online I will need 60 to 120 gallons of this shit

4 year old thread.

If you want to grow water only you need to follow a few people in the organic section. I grow water only. For the most part I use 18 gallon tubs but I do flower in some 3.8 gallon pots. I can make it till finish on some strains without fading and have some fade on others.

I re-use my old soil by amending it with dry amendments. I've spent over a year working on my soil mix and it works for my environment and tap water. You can not follow someone else's regime to a tee as the variables are always different. I had to create a whole new soil mix for the water hear at the new house. The old soil mix caused magnesium deficiencies when using the tap water here.

You can buy bagged potting soil and grow a plant. I started out mixing "super soil" and moved on to less is more and up pot directly into soil that was just re-amended with no ill effects. Once I see a burst of growth it goes into the flower room.

I don't post much anymore. Have you been following anyone here yet? Greasemonkyman if I spelled it correctly is a great person to follow. Same as Dr Who, Rm3 and I am drawing a blank here. There are some great growers here, you just have to figure out who they are.

The problem I had when deciding to grow organically is not doing enough research. I amended my soil with "organic" nutrients when my organics failed past midflower, fail. But it was because I didn't understand organic amendments, a sticky in this section of the forum! Water only means we don't mix nutrients into a solution it doesn't mean we don't take action when the plants are hungry. We do this through organic amendments. When growing organically everything should be organic even your pH down if your tap water is out of range. My first 100% organic grow ever was during my last run and it was Triangle Kush and it made it through flower but I am definitely not one to follow on organics yet.

True that - some pheno's do just fine while others begin to fade early in the same soil. I on occasion will employ top dressings & even a tea on occasion.
It all depends on whom is asking for what.

Bitches be fickle.
