Storing long term?

Hi ROI,

Been here for some weeks now, loving it! Say if you get hold of a larger amount of weed in which I don't want to smoke over the period of a week, (say months). How do I store it so :
1) It doesn't smell strong (more dank weed means stinky room) for discretion.
2) It won't decrease in potency.
3) It won't become too dry (so it is harsh) or mouldy.

I have a humidor (used to smoke cigars) but can't put it there (discretion purposes) and the humidifier that comes with it, plus a hygrometer. What humidity is optimum for longer term storage, and I heard doing this cures it for longer making an aged herb?

I was thinking of putting it in a ziplock bag, sucking air out with a straw and then closing, then repeating 3/4 times so it's really well protected. Then if it still smells wrap tightly in cling film.

Ive heard you can use freezer zip-lock bags but ive never tested it. Yes freezing the bud, it actually is known to work for long term storing.

No dont freeze it ,it over drys and damages the bud. I usually make sure its completely dry ,vacuum seal it then store it in a 60-80L plastic drum/barrel with a wide lid ,buried it under ground on a headland or somewhere with sandy soil (you have to go about 4 ft deep). Cool and dark perfect i also put cash in there, just dont be seen going there. If your house gets raided they come up empty handed.

Mason jar. Vacuum sealer. Simple as that.

Storing is curing. Put it in mason jars and keep them in temps 55-70 if possible.

Use a (new) glass jar with a rubber seal. Don't freeze your buds; trichomes become very brittle and break off from the plant material easily when they are cold. You will lose a lot of your trichs like that, reducing the potency of your buds. Cured buds are more potent, smoke more smoothly and smell/taste better than uncured buds

I have smoked stored weed in simple mason jars for over year and was great.

Frozen bud only loses trichomes when you handle the bud. Vacuum seal small amounts and then freeze, presuming of course that the bud is already cured. When you want some, take out a bag and let it come to room temp. I have been doing this for many many years and have never seen a loss of trichs. I will vaccum bottle some if I want long term curing but most methods eventually let the weed dry out completely. I maintain a library of lots of strains that way.

Bags leak air over time so that is a bad way to store even for a few weeks. I would say if you want to keep it for months or even a few years then get it in a mason jar or similar and in a cool place. Refrigerator is where mine goes after cure.

The info from canndo is great for very long term storage.

And what about storing in cold long term, if I leave it (air protected ofcourse) in the garage where it is pretty cold. Would the bud degrade in quality?
