Strains that stink even before curing?

Hello fellow RIU members =]
I was wondering what strains you have grown that are super stinky right after drying? Seems like almost every strain I have grown except a few have the grassy/hay smell after drying and does not get weak until a good 2 week cure.

....what you have is called....improper curing. You have to cure them after you dry them or you get that hay taste/smell.

i know what you are saying..ive had similar experiences, but buddha haze by big buddha has a distinct smell that hits me whenver i open my tent :)

Yeah but the only reason for the hay smell is improper curing methods. He's talking about his harvested buds...

well ive heard of people that don't smell the true dankness of their bud until after curing...aka "hayish" smelling buds go into the jar and dank smelling buds come out after properly curing for a week or 2...or is this a myth?

Juicebox: I know how to cure.... I mean what strains are super stinky (non hay/grass smell) after a good 7-10 day dry? I have grown bagseed back in the day and have had some after drying smell like fruit with no hay smell whatsoever and some bagseed that woulld smell like fresh cut grass until a good 2 week cure. Then the skunkiness would come out. I'm asking if you know of any strains that smell say "Fruity" after drying even before jarring them up for the cure process. Really high right now so my IQ is about 50% right now lol Bear with me

That is true 100% I have dried buds (bagseed)correctly and they still smell like hay/grass. After a good 2 week cure the jars and buds smell of skunk ;]

thanks newb...at least i know im not losing my mind haha

just wondering since you know they will smell after curing anyways whats the big deal? do you think that these buds would smell that much stronger after curing or...?

I just want to show off my product early as I can and have it super stinky you feel me? xD With my 4 closets plants to harvest I will keep track in my smoke report of the smell throughout Cutdown, drying, and curing ( Day 1 ,4,9 etc) Take a peak of my grow and follow along if you wish =]

I've looked into water curing but have read it reduces smell which I want and well.... I shake at the thought of dipping my nugs in water =/

Hey NG!
I grew out OG #18, by Reserva Privada, and Pineapple Express, by G13 labs. Both reeked from flower through harvest, with the Pineapple Ex. getting more of a sweet, fruity/diesel type of smell. Both strains are easy to grow, and will knock you on your butt! My personal fave is the OG #18, tastes amazing and just takes me to another planet.

Riddleme's method is not to soak your buds in water.
It's to drown the roots in water during the last couple weeks of growth, this supposedly starts the curing process in the buds while they are still on the plant so when you chop and dry they have effectively already had a 2 week cure.
Definately worth reading up on, he provides a logical case for why it works and i'm gonna give it a go on one of mine next grow

also as someone else said, uk cheese stinks big time.

headband has a definate reek that doesnt go away ive dried & sold it in 3-4 days no problem & no mowed hay smell all my other stuff except sour'diesel ive had to cure

Thanks to know! I was debating headband or OG 18 but I ended up going with OG18 in fear of it going out of stock for a long time. Headband is def a tasty treat I want someday... I need to find a good cheese since I have never smoked a cheese before =[
