I have 2 bubblicious plants in a 4x4x7 grow tent.
MH 400w was swapped for the HPS 400w on 9th august, about 4 weeks ago, interval was reduced from 24/0 to about 13 hours of darkness at the same time and potash was added to the soil. They are in large 40l or more patio containers, with best quality compost, fed using a balanced feed. (miracle grow)
For 4 weeks the plants budded up as I expected, though very bushy I decided to leave them like that as they filled the space perfectly with some tying down, there were lots of colas and several were progressing quite well, the smell is incredible in the tent. Many secondary buds shaded were "icing" everything around them and I was quite excited about the quality and quantity of yield, though the flowering period was quoted at 8-10 weeks so we are only halfway through.
About a week ago I gave both plants a boost of the multi nutrient, augmented with potash and I also decided to give them a bit more light in the cycle, so I changed it to around 12/12.
Since then the plants have become "leggy at the main large colas they shot up dramatically, some scorching occurred and I moved the light and raised it. I can't raise the light any further, the growth is continuing though I've reduced the period of light and the new growth is almost entirely vegetative with very small non productive buds in between.
What has caused this growth change? I suspect it is a combination of too much nitrogen in a recent feed and perhaps the change in photoperiod, but I want to be sure. There is little possibility of light pollution as they are in a tent inside another room in almost complete darkness even during daylight.
In the photos I have noticed a load of leaves maybe a week or 2 old which are yellowed and crumbling at the edges, I hadn't realised there was so much of that as it has just become obvious, perhaps this is indicative of too much N, I originally thought it was scorching.

3rd pic shows some of the lower buds and how the top buds were growing a week or so ago, and shows some of the leaf damage and the last pic is ( badly focused I know..) but is what I was seeing all over until recently.
