it is a sativa trait thing...I usually find the colas of the plant get done before the lower branches that just have not recieved as much light love as the colas so I harvest the top and put the rest of the plant back into flowering to finish up.

This has to do with the tall structure and the fact that flowering time is generally longer. In pure sativas the typical phenomenon is that lower branches tend to finish earlier, while the top part of the plant still shoots new flower clusters."
