Hey Lads

So I've decided to post my latest grow as a diary as I'm takin a step back into the unknown and doing a scrog. I've had a few failed efforts due to the law and not enough knowledge with DWC so I went back to the basics and did a few grows of automatics in soil with great success. Gave me the feel of what I should be doing. Now Ive decided I want to grow some sativas and try a scrog as I'm growing in a stealth cab and can't have 12ft sativas.

My equipment is as follows.
Stealth cab build by mate 160cm x 80cm x 50cm HxLxW
400w Lumatek Ballast with MH for veg and HPS for flower
4in Cooltube
Hydor inline fan
Carbon filter and ducting
Desktop fan

Biobizz All Mix Soil with added perlite and vermiculite
Full range of Canna Nutrients Terra
Humbolt Countys Own Purplemax and Gravity
Advanced Nutrients Carboload

I started some plants a while ago for a mate and took some some clones before I passed them on.

Dutch Passion Strawberry Cough

The genetics of Strawberry Cough marijuana are of North American origin and as we have discovered partly from Europe which is unique in itself.

Strawberry Cough seeds are a hybrid between an Indica and a Sativa. From this hybrid, the experts at Dutch Passion made a very important selection having about 80% Sativa influences – great for you the consumer!

Dutch Passion used this selection wisely for the production of Strawberry Cough Seeds. It is also well known that Dutch Passions "Production and Research Team" have succeeded in creating on of the fruitiest, most delicious variety imaginable. Strawberry Cough marijuana is like a 3 course meal - not only does it provide you with a fresh strawberry aroma to start with, the actual fruity taste of this variety is both evident and wonderful to experience. And to finish, Strawberry has an "up high" effect of medium THC –strength – just perfect.

The plant you get from Strawberry Cough seeds are also beautiful to look at, with the total flowering time taking about 9 weeks. From our experience, the first and most powerful growth spurt of flowers ends in week four, the second at week 9. Strawberry Cough marijuana is really easy to grow and does not need a strong fertilizing scheme. We would recommend standard fertilizing as this will provide you with good results with individual plants reaching medium heights.

Shining Silver Haze

Height: 70-80 cm
Effect: High
T.H.C. Content: 20%
Genetic background: Sativa
Flowering time: 9-10 weeks
Yield: ± 450 grams
Harvest month: late october

Winner Highlife Cup 2010

The Shining Silver Haze was made in the USA in the seventies. It is a crossing of Colombian, Mexican, Thai and Jamaican. The Haze plant generally has a longer flowering period then other cannabis, for this Shining Silver Haze it is still only 8-9 weeks. Where most species of Haze need 14 weeks. Haze species are known for their high quality and is therefore widely used for medicinal purposes. The Shining Silver Haze weed species has been of the highest quality. The effects are heavy and stoned.

I took 2 Dutch Passion Strawberry Cough and 2 Royal Queen Shining Silver Haze.
Unfortunately during cloning I lost one of the haze so I'm left with 3. I'm not quite sure how long I've had them vegging but Ive only just put them under the 400w as they were under a 250w hps before. They seem pretty strong and are just starting to reach the screen.

I thought I had read that you shouldnt top plants for scrog but I read something a few days ago and realised I was wrong so they got topped. They are just starting to reach the screen so i will be pulling them back under. Bit worried on just how much they will stetch as sativas but if Im in trouble I have some Humbolt Countys Own Bushmaster which should stop the vertical grow.

So thats the basics of my grow. Charging camera to take and post some pictures later. Any tips, hints or criticisms welcome. Peace

I grow the cough, be careful on the nutes, she's a bitch.
Thanks for the tip buddy. Never grown either of these strains before so it'll be a little trial and error. I hope you'll stick around. could use your advise further down the line.
How do you find the yield?

Yield is good. I have two right now. Should get at least a z per plant in 2 gallons of soil on one of them, looks like over 2 z's on the other. 1 week veg. They stink heavily.

Sorry for the stupidiy but Im assuming a Z is an Oz. Mine are in 2 gallon bags too but Im hoping for more than an Oz per plant. Can nearly get that off an automatic

So a quick update. Plants are coming along nicely. Gave them a good feed today so hopefully be ready to go 12/12 in the next day week or so. Ordered new hps bulb yesterday so should be here in a week or so. I decided to remove most of the large fan leaves to let light down to lower shoots. Not sure If I'm supposed to do that but it's an experiment. Plants responded well to the topping so have lots of new shoots starting to appear. Gonna leave the MH in for the first two weeks of 12/12 cause I read they will stretch for Blue spectrum in their stretch and then I'll hit them with hps. Will take a few pictures later when I get home. Apart from that All looks healthy. As always tips or criticisms are always welcome.

how long do you plan on vegging?

you're going to have a nice canopy there
Im not quite sure how long more Ill veg for. Can't even remember how long they've been vegging. Im sort of playing it by ear but I reckon a week more or so. Im still concious that they are goning to stretch like fuck but the haze hasn't quite touched the screen so want to wait for that. Thinking of shortening the light an hour a day for the 6 days before I kick them into flower. Anyone think that would be beneficial?

I want to get some of those twist fasteners to tie the stems to the screen as I weave it along it. I know its like saying how long is a piece of string but any estimates on how long more I should veg?

I done something similar to this and what i learnt was to have loads of air movement above and below the canopy, also a way of watering the plants once the canopy has formed. Might be something to think about.

So I'm making myself keep this a well updated and regular pictures as there is so many failed journals on this site.

Not much to update but a couple of new pictures. Started to tie the stems to the screen now and try make some sort of design. Bit worried on how much they'll stretch but want them to go a little further so I can tie them. I think Ill wait till the shining silver haze at the front has to be tied and then Ill switch to 12/12. Dying to get to the exciting bit. Gave them a good flush today. Thirsty buggers. Each are drinking 2litres every feed. Last feed I gave was only light strenght so will step it up next time round.

Anyone think I should be flowering straight away or will I have a bit more time? Heres the pictures anyway.

the ssh will stretch, i'm sure she'll fill out the screen during the first couple weeks of 12/12 if you'd switch now.

This is gonna be a great grow! Cannot wait to see your results.

I've been growing the Cough for 4 harvests now. They have been handling my feeding schedule just fine. Clones very easy and withstands heat well. Good thing you have a screen, I always have to use sticks to hold them up. Every once and a while I get one that stays very short in flower. Everyone loves this Strawberry goodness. I am sub'd!

Thanks for stopping by dude. Could do with a couple of experienced Cough farmers around for advice. Whats your thoughts on switching to 12/12 or could I leave it a little longer? Have about 20in to play with above the screen

Anyone got any opinions on whether I was right to take the lower large fan leaves off to expose light to lower tips or should I have left them?
