Strength in 8 weeks?

Ok. So I just germinated but in 8 weeks I have to leave for a month. I think I'm going to rely on my roommates to keep them alive while I'm gone but I'm a little sketched out because this whole thing is such a delicate process. Do you think the plants will be strong enough in 8 weeks for them to take care of them without going out of their way? I think I'm going to put my lights on a timer so they won't have to worry about that but as far as watering what would be the best instructions to give someone with absolutely no knowledge of growing so they won't die in the month that I'll be gone? Stupid question, I know. But whatever advice will be better than what I have now.

Keep in mind I am just trying to get a personal stash for myself. I'm not looking to grow for profit or anything like that. Small time, cheap-ass operation here.

For a month I don't think you can give them a set rule about when to water. The plants are changing too much at that time. I think you will have to teach them how to water properly....whatever you are doing - weight test, finger test, moisture meter, etc.

yeah...... show them exactly how you decide what to do, that's the only way they will be able to take care of them.

Yeah, just tell 'em what to do and when. I think if they aren't completely retarded they'll be able to figure out when to water and whatnot.
