Stretched Seedlings? (pics)

I recently planted some seeds and overnight they basically exploded out of their rapid rooters.

The Nirvana Pure Power Plant shot up alot faster than the Skunk #1.

I've included a picture of when I pulled them out of the germination cabinet and about three hours later under my CFLS.

They going to be ok?:-?

get the light closer to them and then when you transplant bury the stock closer to the leafs nice job tho you just need the light within a inch or 2 thel diffently be fine tho

That would not have happened if you sprouted them under a light
Once you plant the seed into the medium you turn the light on over them and if it is CFL keep it close enough so that when they pop up they won't stretch out like that looking for light
When you transplant them just bury the stems up to the cotyledons

These wont be going into soil unfortunately, they're due to be transplanted into hydro. How can I cover/support some of that super long stem?

Tom___420, Should I be germing under CFLs from the get go? These seeds basically popped overnight and stretched to their current length while in the dark.

Did you plant the seeds straight into the soil or germinate them in a paper towel first?
When germinating in a paper towel you want there to be darkness
Once the seed germs plant it in your medium and put a light over it immediately
If you plant the seed directly into the soil without germinating first than you must also put a light over them

Got the same problem myself right now, stretched out plants that are about 6 inches tall. I'm putting them into soil, three gallon pots... can you really plant them almost all the way under the soil with just the top leaves showing?

I'm not sure mine require being fulled under the soil, but perhaps half way or so as the beginning growth was fairly stretched.

If you have a strain that more than doubles in flower though, technically speaking, doesn't none of the growth in early veg even bud if you take off the bottom 1\3 of the plant as I've done in the past?

Those stretched really bad... I thought mine stretched bad and mine was only like 3"...

Since they aren't going into soil, I have no idea what to do. :(
Sorry bud, but if they were soil like the others said bury it up to the first node.

edit: mcgrupp, yes just bury them up to the first set of leaves and they will be fine... growth might be stunted for awhile while it struggles to recuperate from the damage - but it'll make it.

I put the seeds directly into rapid rooters, put those rapid rooters in a sealed zip lock bag and put that bag in a box that was duct taped shut.

Yeah that is your problem, there was no light and the plants just stretched looking for it
Next time just plant them in the rapid rooters and then put a light over them, you won't have any stretching that way

As I said, these plants wont be going into soil; they'll be transplanted into 4" rockwool cubes for my ebb + flow tables.

I can't think of a reasonable way to bury them up to the cotyledons. :-|

24 hours I'd say, the PPP seeds are literally double the height of the Skunk #1 seeds that were planted at the same time and germed in the same box.

They won't be put into pots with hydroton?
I am not a fan of ebb and flow with rockwool, that stuff holds too much water
Have you looked into growing in hydroton?
Allows for my better root aeration and that way you could still but the stems a little bit, you don't need to go all the way to the cotyledons just enough to hold the plant up sturdily

just do your thing as a few said they are not ruined but deffently keep them close to the light so they will catch up and one other thing that stalk will thicken so you wont have to worry about it your streesing over something to small i see the other plants in the back of the pic lol your stressin to much just keep closer to the light i repeat
