Stringly plant? My First Grow

Hi my plant is 2 1/2 days old. But in the pass day it seems like the leaves didn't grow at all only the stem. Is this a problem or is it normal?

how close is the light and what kinda light?

you should get that light really close if its anything but HPS or MH

That's Completely normal, many seedlings grow very tall to begin with. But like SmokeyMcSmokester said, if you have CFL's or LED's you should keep them a few inches from the plant. (Except for higher wattage CFL's because they give off more heat)

Thanks a lot guys. I just got my closet setup. When it just sprouted. I had my fluorescent upright against the wall, and my plant on a table a feet away.

But earlier today I setup my closet and hanged my light up. I just adjust the light and it is about 3-5 inches from the plant.

Will everything be ok?

It's alright, the first thing your going to have to learn is some patience. The seedling takes a while to establish itself before it takes off.

I agree, patience is needed. The light being closer will make a diff. Do you have a fan on them at all?

Yes I do have a fan on low on them. It is not oscillating though. Would an oscillating fan be better?

Yes I need to have patience. I keep getting the urge to water. Most plants should only be watered once every two days?

I just have one more question. I bought a 18 gallon tube for my water reservoir. Will I need some sort of water circulator to keep the water from being stagnant?

any fan is really fine, just helps build the stem stronger.

as for watering, im the same way. I want to water often. I have 4 plants and found the best way to water is just give a little bit once or twice a day. Especially if your lights put off heat. I just get a water bottle, and put like a 1/3 of a cup, usually once a day but sometimes twice.
I got a plant thats 25 days into flowering, one thats 7 days into flowering, another about 42 days old in a veg box, and my last one is about 23 days old in a veg box. And their doin great that way.

you water only when the soil is dry, water until you have some runoff. There is no set schedule, no set amount.

I dont let it run from the bottom. If its dry about an inch and a half deep, water it a little

it's a problem, get more light on. a 15 watt 6500 K CFL (AKA Daylight)just an inch away is ideal for the first week or two.
