Stupid question about “flowering stage weeks”.

Well I actually don’t know if it does but to me, it seems that the buds closer and up top,(on my plant) has the darker hairs and far more cloudy trics and of course bigger than the ones at bottom… that’s how I came to that conclusion
It means you could benefit by training and possible a SCROG
Either that or more light

More so...the top finishes first than...closer to the light finishes first. The top will finish before the bottom. But distance to the light is not why.

Guys thanks for the info and clearing it up. I was wondering because I have these 5 plants. All 5 was suppose to be gdp. But 4 were started 3 weeks behind. Long story short, 1 turned purple and was harvested but the other 3, hadn’t turned purple and some trics are cloudy and some are even amber. So that’s why I asked this question and I know not to go by breeders timeframe, I just use it as a starting point.

You can turn any plant purple with a 20 f drop between lights on and off

The majority of GDP phenos are green
Really? I never knew that. Why all the pics they post is purple. And so it’s 20 difference? How long until that shows effects? Cause I’ve dropped it for past 4 weeks. I’ve even gone thru the trouble of spraying them at night with ice water to achieve that temp. (This was done when I wasn’t able to get the 15 degrees different).

Well isn’t that the same thing? Lol closer to light means more intense light absorption? I’m not challenging you’re comment. I honestly don’t know it myself lol. All my info is from Google and experience I’ve encounter and just common sense logic. I don’t know the scientific effects behind it but that’s how I assumed that the ones closers to light is able to mature faster since that’s what plants rely on for growth.

Bad ideas, You are just stressing the plants.

Tech kinda. Just generally not how to think about it.

A lot more to it than just distance to the light.

Thanks! So yeah additional. Because reason why I asked is because I was reading on nutes and ppm and one of the chart pretty much says that a cannabis plant will be ready to harvest in 8-9 weeks from start to finish. 1-2 weeks for seedling, 3-4 weeks for veg and 3-4 weeks for flowering, totaling around 9-10 weeks.
Nah, 8-9 weeks is flower only and that's still on the early end of a vast majority of plants.

Yeah that’s why I’m asking these questions because from what I read and what people say, is not what I’m experiencing so I am not disagreeing with anyone, I just like a more detailed answer than just “it just does”. Take example like the light argument that’s going on right now. I am not disagreeing or arguing. I am just saying what I notice and experience. I am asking because I honestly don’t know but it’s simple and clear that colas that are closest to the light source is far more mature and bigger than the ones farthest away. But then you guys are saying that it don’t it just makes the colas developed more. Isn’t that the same thing? Or am I the only one that’s not stoned? Lol

Come back when you’re stoned!
I will when these gdp finish. First pair of leaves end of July. Flipped from veg to flower since 9/24/2021 and no cloudy trics or fully dark pistil hairs, some are still white but dense and frosty. Hadn’t turned purple at all not even sugar or fan leaves. That’s why I started this thread. Breeder said 8-9 weeks flower. So I took that as a starting point. So if it’s 8-9 weeks from gem to harvest, I’m way passed. But if 8-9 additional from flip, than I’ll still keep checking the trics every other day.

If you have white hairs still on the plant. Dont bother looking at the trichs. No point...you will only stress yourself out. She ain't done.

When 99% are brown and receded. You start to look. Cause she is done then.

The pic I posted was the first time I looked at the trichs on that grow.

The other plant has no amber and it is 100% brown hairs. It is also more sativa dom.

If you buy seeds that take 8 weeks to flower, in general most the plants will take 8 weeks to flower from the flip (12/12).
Cannabis is a very hard plant and it does not give up easy, so you make mistakes and the plant will delay bud development and repair the damage, do it a few times and you have added weeks on, get everything right and it could even reduce the flower time a few days.

Breeders times are for the desired pheno from a known clone, usually hydro in a sealed room from 12/12 switch.

If your running a seed in dirt with 130W of light in an unsealed room then expect to run a lot longer.

I don't usually count, but when I do, I count from the end of the stretch.
That when I consider flowering to start. Until then it's more like budding.

8 weeks from the end of the stretch and you're done 99% of the time.

Sorry if I’m being too “technical” because from experience in life, not just growing cannabis, sometimes and most of time, one issue can cause multiple symptoms vice versa so that’s why I like to dig deeper than what Ives learned, read and encounters. If encounter doesn’t match what I’ve read and learned, that’s when I ask the reason behind it.
