I always have to laugh when I see someone refer to what someone tries in their basement or closet or storeroom or spare room or attic or garage or grow tent as being; "science."

My gosh, comparing what PhD's, what people with Doctorates perform in high tech labs with the latest high tech equipment and exacting conditions and multiple control groups to what home growers attempt is beyond absurd.

It is like saying the stink bombs and smoke bombs some kid makes with the home chemistry set he got for his ninth birthday is performing actual acts of scientific research.
Thanks bricktop. Once again you prove that science doesn't exist outside of laboratories and that helps me understand more about atheists thinking that religion should stay in the church and off RIU and the streets.

thanks i think no its cool lol but growth is what the point was i seen on these sites like backyardaquaponics amazeing growth and thought what the hell
i have heard alot of retared forms or method's i won't say which ?? but yeah whatever
I see what you're getting at, and your idea isn't a horrible one. The only way you'll be able to know for sure is have a testing and control setup. Then document your progress on each setup. If you can repeatedly get desirable results, then go for it. If not, then go for it anyway! Its your house, do what you want. Though when you are using water full of chemicals that could be toxic to the fish without checking first (Or at least it seems you did), it does make it look like you aren't taking this project as seriously as you could.

um, its not HIS fucking idea, in a legitimate aquaponics set up you would be able to harvest both the fish and the fucking plants, with his idea neither fucking one. . science, lol. Idiocracy the movie come true to life.

Good thing nobody told Thomas Edison you need a PhD to make scientific advancements possible eh? :p

Edison had fairly little to do with the science behind the majority of the things he is credited for inventing. "One county North of Humboldt, CA" Hungry....

umm no chemicals at all is recommended for aquaponics the fish make it. i however used a cap full. for 5gallons of water of floralicius organic grow. fish shite in a bottle but thats too much apparently i remove about 2gallons every other day since the other day i just replaced water no nutes i have stoped useing them at the moment further tests is not recommended

if u call fish shite chemicals. someone did cause the npk. isn't those elements found in shite. ??? i could swear they were. can anyone field this one??
and i will say this for like umtenth time it was organic floralicius grow and it was a capfull for 5gallons of water that i have had sitting for over 48 hours so i dont use chemicals
like most ppl with fish tanks do mmm or alot of others who use artifical chemicals

So I have been doing this all wrong. I have a 1,200+ gallon koi pond, with plants all around the edges. I should be putting in enough nutes for 1,200 gallons (4,542 litres) of water instead of feeding my koi and goldfish. Damn, changing the nutes are gonna be spendy.

lol.

nitrates kill fish.

if there is too much "fertilizer" in there, the fish will die.

well, unless its one bad ass fish :)

when you set up an aquarium and want it successful (the fish to live)

you first set up the bacteria in it

which eats waste and turns it into less harmful waste (and more accessible to plants)

dumping a fish into just some fertilized water.

is probably going to harm or kill the fish.

first of, you added ferts, (deadly to fish in too large doses)

and then the fish is gonna shit.

and you wont have any bacteria to speak off.

though if you have plenty of plants sucking off the waste, the fish should be allright.

but one fish probably wont make that much fertilizer.

plus you´d have to add micronutes anyway, stuff like iron and whatnot. (unless your fish has a nice varied diet.)

so the waste is just going to build.

eventually probably killing the fish.
