suggestions for a simple soil mix for indoor/autoflower/organic

Ok, since I'm a newbie, and very lazy, I want to do a soil mix that is simple and easy, mostly "organic", and does not have 55 amendments. I want good results, but I mean hey I'm new at this, so learning is really more important for me at this point. Did I mention that I'm lazy? I have a grow tent that's about 3x3x5 feet, mabye a little bigger, and a 1200 W equiv. LED grow light that is so obnoxiously bright I have to wear sunglasses or it gives me a headache. This is for my next grow. My current grow is using coco coir, and it has been confusing.

Here's an idea for a soil mix that I'm kicking around. Please let me know what you think. Ideally, it would be something I only have to water, and maybe add some nutrients at flowering time. The less I can fuck up, the better!

1. Fox Farms Ocean Forest
2. Fox Farms Happy Frog
3. Perlite
4. Diatomaceous Earth ?
5. Myco Chum
6. Sphagnum Peat Moss ?

Do I even need the peat moss if I use the rest of it? I'm thinking 1/3 of the first 3, and a little bith of the rest. Remember, I want to keep it simple. :-)

Thanks!

I’m still very new at this man, my first “real” grow. Takin it seriously; but like you, I am REALLY lazy. My buddy and I are both growing separately but both are using the Fox Farms Ocean Forest. Our plants are just sitting outside and they are FLOURISHING. His are huge, I took a clone from one of his plants about a month ago, it is small but so beautiful. That soil rocks.
I also put some diatomaceous earth on mine, no problems at all.

Happy frog for seedlings and after the first transplant into fox forest with a bit of extra perlite (Like 20-25% by volume). No need for additional nutrients for 3ish weeks. Week or so before 13h daylight add 2-3 inches of earthworm castings as a top dress. When I water, I water slowly, about 10% by volume.

That pretty much will get you a decent harvest. (Edit: on a 60-65 day strain)

A bag of Promix HP, a bag of compost, a bag of worm shit and perlite until it has fluffy texture.

I use a bunch of other amendments also, but if you have enough compost and castings in there, you’re going to provide a broad nutrient spectrum.

Your mix looks okay, but if you really want to mix your own soil, make a killer one. If you’re buying FFOF, stick with that for convenience. The Diatomaceous Earth (DE) is great when sprinkled on top, but doesn’t work the same when it’s wet... good for slashing bugs to death though! Why the added peat moss? And myco chum seems like some good stuff actually. I approve.

I understand as an assertive new grower, you would like to obtain a compromise between excellent soil and convenience. I get a lot of pleasure from concocting soil mixes now... it’s half the fun!

Howdy JayBio - say I was to add in some bone meal, blood meal, guano, and earthworm castings... How much of each should I add to a base of FF Ocean Forest? Are we talking a cup of each?

thanks,
BG
