Sulfur Burn Qs.

Battling a minor case of PM in the flower room.

Going to do a full clean of the room, but also think I should do a sulfur burn to really eliminate any Pm spores in the air.

A. How smelly is a sulfur burn, not that it really matters just curious. I heard it smells like propane? Should like i be worries my neighbor down the road will think there’s a leak?

B. I’ll be drying plants that are coming out of said flower room in an adjoining room. Should I wait to do the burn until after the have dried and are put away? Or will a door be sufficient inbetween ? what happens if drying weed gets exposed to some of the sulfur burn ?

Super paranoid about cleaning to avoid this PM, super annoying.

It stinks like rotten eggs. At is very harmful if you breath it in at those levels. Is it a sealed room? Do u have a way to vent out?
I think it is a great preventative if used in between grows. I have ran them on timers and vented out of the grow. But u gotta be careful. Timers and fans have to be on point. If u walk in the room while it running it hurts(first hand experience).

Cleaning the room is def paramount...but be careful if u took clones from those plants. Also is how ur environment during the grow? The times I got PM my environment made it perfect for PM to flourish. High humidity, large day to night humidity swings, poor air circulation and of course...infected clones. Peace and I hope all works out.

I was going to make it sealed. Just need to seal the doorway. But my veg room is also within that room and would like to access it still.
Yeah i have fans and timers and an exhaust.
How long does it need to be done for ?

I thought i’ve seen people doing them like during grows and being around during the burning, maybe i’m wrong ??

Would it be safe to dry in a room next to this ?

And i have a tarp light sealed room where i’m vegging that’s within the room I was going to sulfur burn in. Issues ?

Not taking clones.

The conditions were generally ok except for one week the lights off temps got cold. I think that caused it. that’s corrected now.
about 81-83 lights on. 78 lights off. 35-40% humidity both. 3 fans .

Hoping getting it gone should keep it gone giving the conditions

Id just hit them with eagle 20 can be done, I hate sulfur vaporizers, headache waiting to happen.
Hit what with eagle 20? It’s that stuff super toxic ? Or just clean the room with that?

I’m up for suggestions.

Whatever will get the PM outs hurr

Yeah I guess you can't use the Eagle 20 in flower. If it was early flower I would say it's fine as it would have time to go away.

Definitely fix the environmental issue thats causing the PM.

As to the sulfur, it works by raising leaf pH making it alkaline.

You can use potassium bicarbonate or sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) to mix up a foliar solution at a pH of 8.0 and have the same effect but without the same 100% coverage that you get with vapor.

I’m going to do this with no plants in the flowering room...

Yes the environmental has changed so i don’t think anything will cause the PM.

I just want to rid the room of any spores in the air.

Just there’s a veg room within the flower room, and plants drying in the adjacent room.

So wondering best way to get the PM sores out of the room while the flower room is empty

You can have powdery mildew spores and never have podwery mildew if you keep the environment right. Letting temps drop when the lights go off is the common cause as is too much humidity. Never let temps drop below 70, I prefer 72 as the lowest. When I hit 68 at 45% it's PM time instantly. So simply keeping the temps up keeps PM away.

Yeah i have that aspect under control now.

I’m just finding little spots of PM throughout the grow , very young and like dime sized pm. week 7&5, so almost done anyway

Well a cleaning with physan 20 or even bleach will work but again the spores will always be present, just in lesser quantity.
A sulfur burn dosent eliminate pretty much all PM spores ?

Word i’ll just spray the room down with that shit. clean the whole 9 yards.

No, it accumulates a film on the leaf surfaces that raises the pH. PM likes an acidic environment so an alkaline pH should be used on any and all foliar applications, 8.0 is good.

If you go the bicarbonate route add some dawn dish soap or other surfactant.

I wouldn't use the sulfur unless you have to and if so leave the house. They even stopped marketing the sulfur pellets like 5 years ago, citing the health effects if used indoors. They since relabeled the pellets as "soil sulfur" but we all know what they are really for.

Okay,

So if your flower room had a slight PM issue. You fix the environmental problem, but still finding some fan leaves with PM. Girls get harvested.

Room is empty of flowering plants, what would you say I do to ensure I don’t see PM on my next run?
The girls in veg appear to be Pm free
