Sun System 2 - 400 HPS/MH

I did a search but no luck. I have one of these (only used it for 1 grow) and am having problems with it. are these good lights? is there a light review on here some where?

Ouch. Do you have a warranty? Either way I'd take it back to the shop and complain.

what kind of problems? i was thinking about getting one, but instead i bought a 400 MH/HPS with a remote ballast. i liked the idea of having the ballast and the hood as one unit, and the price for a new one isnt bad, but i was mainly worried about the amont of heat the ballast produced, and how difficult it would be to cool, inline or not.

i did take it back and they are looking at it and did say they will send it back if they have too. So far im very happy with the hydro shop i go to.

It does get hot, but there parts for hooking it up to a cooling fan. (at an extra cost) I have a 2x4 foot grow closet and when the fan and light is on it gets up 85 in there. with out the in-lime fan it get close to 100.

the problem i have is after my first grow, i switched back to MH bulb (for grow # 2) and the light never fully came on and the housing (i guess it was the ballast) was making a very loud buzzing, and yes I did flip the switch from HPS to MH. lol

it is very conveinent having both together in such a small space. I was hoping to get years of use out of it worry free.

You will need to cool that thing. I use a Sun System Air Cooled Hood but the ballast is remote (outside of growbox).

You will need the fan to keep the temperatures down. You might as well do it from the start.

I got my light back, the buld was bad. best I can tell i only had 700 hr. on it from the first grow. they gave me a new one and tested the hood/ballast for me. it still buzzes very loud on start up. he said that just happens when they get older. is there a way to stop or cover up the buzz?
