Sun System (SSII Mini 250W HPS)

Question for the experts:

Right now I'm using a mini (All in one) 150HPS. I'm holding a steady temp of 82 - 85F.

I found a similar light (almost identical actually). However it is a 250HPS.

My question is how much more heat does a 250W HPS put off vs. the 150W HPS?

If it's considerably higher then I'm gonna tear down the cab, and build a new one that can handle an "air cooled" reflector. It's just too tight in there right now to route 6" ducting and an extra inline fan.

Thank you all for the wonderful feedback to my question . . . ha ha. Anyhow no worries. I'm ripping down my current cabinet and am building a new one that can accomodate a full air cooled 250 - 400HPS setup. Happy growing.

So I greatly appreciate your input as I can still keep my current setup and simply swap in a 250. Even if there is a tad more heat I have the means to control it. Very happy with what the 150 has done. However I can see how another 10,000 lumens would have probably had it filled out a bit more by now in the lower branches. I know we're pretty limited with light penetration from a 150.

I'll definitely journal my next grow (Short Ryder) . . . hopefully with another 100Watts of HPS!

I know it's a little late but I had the same lamp and I'd say it raised the temps by 10 degrees F (was put into a bathroom that I temped at 71 consistently) with minimal venting (bathroom fan).

Hey appreciate the feedback man. I took what Flow Grow meant as being a very "similar heat output". Being that there is over double the wattage I'd be surprised if it wasn't a little hotter. Right now I'm at 70F (lights out) and around 83 - 85F lights on. So yes an additional 10F would put me into the danger zone for my grow.

Right now I have a 100CFM inline fan for my exhaust setup (pulls through a carbon filter). For $35.00 off eBay I can get a 145CFM inline fan. I think that should square everything away. And if it doesn't? Well I'll strip down some of that Mylar and put up the black / white Poly Plastic . . . the white side showing of course!
