Super noob ballast question

Not sure if this should be in the lighting section but I am a noob so here goes.

I was reading something about electric ballasts producing emf or rf interference that could fuck with things like radio and digital cable reception. One guy wrote a review about his lumatek ballasts saying they messed up his neighbors digital cable reception and they traced it back to his place. I have a couple lumatek ballasts and i live in a townhouse so I'm wondering if that really happens or if that guy was just bullshitting.

Anyone using these ballasts that can tell me whats up?

i have 2 lumatek digital ballasts.. they are only 400s.. but i plan on getting 4 1000w ballasts when i get my flower room up and running.. thats niether here nor there tho.. i recieve NO interference of any kind.. i have a radio in the room and it plays fine... my tv is about 30 ft from them an has no issues... the neighbors i had a dish and there was never an issue there (assuming this because i never saw a dish network truck or anything else)... it might cause issues when i have almost 5000w's worth of ballasts up and running.. but they are internally shielded to protect against interference like that... if they dont, and you have issues, return it and get a new one..

Damn 5000w, thats huge! You don't worry about the power company getting nosy? Anyway thanks for the reply, thats great info to know. All the trouble I've gone through for security so far I would hate to be blindsided by something like this.

no.. not really... its wont be 5000w all day... it will actually only add another 55 to 60 to my electric bill.. i live alone and dont use much.. so my usage matches to what a normal household would be.. i am paranoid.. but not about that...

a window a/c uses more than that... 1000w isnt much at all.. it only sounds like a lot...
