Supercropping and Canopy Control

First two pics are old/from previous post, the other two are taken when 600watt HPS was turning on, giving white light before turning a bit yellowish and good for pics :)

It should be clear my posts are in regards to the canopy control part of the thread title as it's no longer supercropping - it's amazing how they stretched. I think partly because my 400watt bulb was getting old, so I swapped to the 600 watt sooner (philips greenpower).
2.jpg

They clearly enjoy the 600watter, and it's penetrating through the lower leaves as well. Pruned a few branches that aren't going to make it to the top, some older leaves as well because I still have to be able to reach the sprayers in the back throughout that jungle.

Apart from the stretching I'm happy with the canopy results, looks better than my scrog so far. Pistils visible since 2 days (after 15 days 12/12) and it does look like they stopped stretching. I stopped pinching/snapping and bending 2 days ago, removed most of the weights that kept branches down as well.

Getting a new filter this week, so I can raise the lamp a bit further, going to be a close call.

Looking dialed in Sativied.... I'm digging your light position, the canopy and plant health. How are your temps holding in there without the air cooled reflector?

I re-ran some duct work in one of my flowering boxes yesterday to increase airflow and consistency. The tent with the dual 600's is running warmer than the 1000 tent. Temps were getting up to 88 with the warmer weather :O I need to figure a better way to duct and get the hottest air out of my room to prevent residual heat buildup. I'll try to get some pics of my veggers today, I've been diligently cropping and pruning to promote mature tops and its working great.

PC fans on the top of the tent pulling air out bossman?! I'm about to cop a tent too lol so I've got room to knock something up and make some seeds with!
And I've read anything belowe 90 is not a prob for any plant pretty much, but at 90 and above it gets worse for the girls with each degree that the temps rise!

Can't wait to start my diligent cropping!!

Mornin!

I am pulling air out with a 450 cfm 6", and air in with some PC fans. I wish I never would have built this box and just bought a tent! I'm considering knocking it to bits and putting up a 6 x 6 for the 2 600's.

I don't pull any air out that is unfiltered and I have to keep negative pressure for odor control. I built a table last night to raise my plants high enough to get a big ass fan under them which can blow upward during lights on. Def like to keep my temps under 90, although I would prefer under 80 without C02 lol. I'm having to adjust the light distance to plant tops to compensate for higher temps. If I had the lights where I want them, and where I think they should be, my temps would be a problem. I'd like to keep them inside of 12-14" if I can, for max penetration (that's what she said).

The residual temps in my room outside of the tents is about 72-73, but I'm only using a small 4" 250 cfm fan to pull air out of the room to the exterior. Once that gets up to 75-76 it will be time to turn the AC on :(

Back to work, have a good day playa!

Swag don't have co2! WHAT! Get some man! Get a couple exhale co2 bags and just put them in your room!!!

And don't feel bad bro, my temps are currently outta control too haha! But good thing is im harvesting this weekend!
I need a new damn fanspeed controller to use my new inline lol, so I'm cooling a 400w and 2 150 with 2 pc fans and an oscillating fan lol.
I am pulling air out, but not to much avail lol.

Oh well...

Get some CO2 brother! Something always beats nothing right?!

I have a complete Co2 controller setup to kick on and off based on relative Co2 PPM's, but my room isn't sealed anymore, so it sits in a box. I ran it for about a year and it worked awesome during that time. Then I added wattage, followed by the necessity for AC to the room and it emptied my tanks in a day lol. So there is plenty of air exchange going on in the room and any added Co2 would just be wasted. Ambient Co2 levels are around 700 if I recall correctly.

So far so good on the changes, the temp at 10" under the light is 85 degrees and the plants are inside of 12" :D Will be watching for signs of stress over the next day or two to see if it needs to be raised, but I think I'm good! Should have done that a long time ago.

Thanks! Like during my previous run switching to the 600watt made them really happy. Obviously way more lumen (88K instead of 40K), but it also brings up the temp high enough I can finally fully utilize my exhaust, intake and fans. With the 400watt it all got too cold.

How are your temps holding in there without the air cooled reflector?
I have a 290CFM/355m3h Ruck 125L, basically the best (German engineering, the rest here are clones of theirs) which has a thermostat. Temp during light on is roughly 82-83 because I put that exhaust on 82-83 :) I.o.w. it works like a charm, it automatically goes faster when needed and dims when it's cool enough. It'll work less well in the summer when it's 80-ish degrees outside as well.

At the same time I need to keep my reservoir temp low, roughly 68 degrees. The funny thing is that since the canopy is so dense and I'm on 12/12 I no longer have to cool the res with bottles of ice. I have an air pump in my intake box (a box outside and against the grow closet to block light and hold large Zalman PC fan for active intake and one passive intake) which keeps the rez cool as well.

In that picture above is a small clip fan at the right in the back, that one is now upside down blowing between the canopy and the lamp because the lamp is actually too close right now (16 instead of 20 inch at least so they can get used to it). So far they seem to be able to handle it well. I can't really raise my light much further because the carbon filter is in the way, so, I just bought a new one. Phresh filter 500m3., which is thicker but shorter than my current filter and will give me some extra space to raise the light about 8 inches more. Going to be a close call - if all else fails I will raise the ceiling of the grow closet but that's obviously something I rather avoid.

When I took this pic for another thread the lamp and hood was still still much lower, now it is touching the filter (I put a piece of wood between it so the cloth doesn't catch fire...). I'm going to replace the old filter with ducting and hang the new filter 90 degrees turned and all the way at the left.

Hey everyone. Had this thread pointed out to me, would like to share my first attempt at LST on a couple of Sugar Punch. The first was vegged for 12 weeks, the second for 14 - most of that in 20 litre pots.

I began the training after about 4 weeks when the plants were about 12 inches in height. I tied the base of the trunk on one side to a hole I made in the pot for support, then tied down the top through a hole in the opposite side. This was tide lower for about 3 nights in a row until it was completely below the rest of the plant. As each new top got taller they were also tied down. There was no pre set plan, just whichever tops got highest got tied down where there was space.

What kinda soil is she sitting in Bigby?!

Marvelous job that one!
Thanks man. I am very happy with both of them.

They are in 'BioBizz All Mix' right from seedlings, transplanted from cup pots into the 20 litre after about 3 weeks. They have been getting BioBizz 'Grow' 'Bloom' and 'Alg-A-Mix' and a little bit of 'Bloom Cal/Mag'.

Nice dude, I love me some Sugar Punch! I have one going right now as well. First run? Some of the phenos are purple-ish, so I've seen anyways. Mine is the green one but the smoke is excellent. One of my favorites!

I would suggest some larger flowering containers next time :weed:

Thanks man. And yeah, I will be getting some serious pots for the next time I try some 12+ week vegging. Got surprised by 100% germination on a 5pk and wanted keep all of them though.

First time growing her. I had two different indica leaning hybrid phenos, and a sativa leaning tall stretchy pheno that went 12 weeks+ and was slightly coloured (purple) among the 3 already flowered. These two are my favourite of the hybrid phenos, and what looks like a slightly different expression of the sativa pheno with a more chemical smell (it's seriously strong), time will tell if that slight difference will turn into a more or less coloured plant. :-)

I think my germ rate with all of Sannies Seeds is 100%

Great that you got those options to choose from! I'll try to share some pics of mine when I get some kodak time. Frosty effin strain bad-realbad! Mine is just a cpl weeks in so just starting to fill in. Overall I really like the growth patterns, yield, potency, flavor and appearance. Def has a PUNCH! lol

I already said it in your grow journal but that's some awesome cropping results Bigby, I look forward to see what you do with larger pots and longer vegging!

Yes yes, exactly why I right now have 5x Liberty Haze from Barney's Farm and 2x Kollosus from Sannie (1 is in soil, not in closet, going to see it free somewhere in the wild :D). Had terrible germ results with the BF seeds (1 out of the first batch of 5) so I added some Sannie seeds the second germinating attempt because I know what results I can expect with those (100% so far).

Smoking Sugar Punch now from my previous run :8

I managed to replace the filter, only broke two leaves! Dropped the old filter but knew I was going to do that so I had my wife hold a golf club under it to block its fall  Much better airflow now, the old filter was way too large and old. New one now slightly blocks the light, but ah well, it's white and it will just have to do for now. Before next run I'm going to redo the entire ceiling.
6.jpg

Going to raise or remove that bottom fan tomorrow, need to check temps first tonight and see if the improved airflow has a lot of influence on it.

Keep updating the greatness Sativi!

It's OBVIOUSLY that super cropping and plant training is the way to go as far as indoors!
When I get veggin' again I'm gonna throw up some action for sure!

And body got any babies that they're currently working on? Or you guys just banging out beasts ATM?!?
