I super-cropped my Sleestack x Skunk about a w2eek ago, & at 1st it looked kinda like a spider sitting there with its legs all spread out! after that I stuck her into flowering, & she has went nuts!!! Honestly at 1st I wasn't to pleased with the Sleestack, but after super cropping, I really do believe this is a kick ass strain!! ;) and I've also herd really good things about this strain to!!

Sleestack x Skunk from a freebie a while back was a really nice looking and smoking plant. Kinda short indica mine but hairy as sheet and full of a bold color unlike many others. you will be happy. experiemented with this to wow myself.....top one time early and then when about 8 inches tall supercrop the 4 main branches tieing all 4 down straight out. looks sad for a couple days but explodes with branching...

Yup! That's exactly what mine did!! I took & released it where I had tied it back, because it wanst doing all that much, looked like a big ass spider sitting there! ;) and boom! It took off, & is thick & bushy as all get out!! I got these as a freebie, & had ordered a few b4 I got the freebies, but hadn't grew any out before then. I went ahead & threw one in the dirt to see what it was about! And must say I really like it now!! I also have a Royal Queen Critical going, & LOVE that one!! She is so uniform its unreal!! And she "stinks so good"!!
Well, I have a lot more growing, 20 strains to be exact! Take a look in my grow journal located in the signature, & let me know what ya think bro... thanks.. Dank..

When I started this journal I didn't super crop at all in flower, now I do it routinely with no ill effects. The first two weeks is primo cropping to open them shits up and let them take shape.

Went from 90 daytime highs to about 60 today! lol wtf?
Nice thread Shwag! Thanks for everything you've done here bro. A very simple and concise thread/tutorial! Plenty of pics and verbage to explain what is it that your doing and why. I'm about to the last page haha so I figure this is a good time to post and keep reading.
If you would tho bro, could you tell me what's the lastest into flowering that you've successfully supercropped?
If you look at the last couple pics on my thread in my sig, you can see that I'm attempting to achieve the same results as your via LST.

I've super cropped accidentally during veg while LSTing(i broke the main stem on 2/3 plants that I have), and once again about a week ago while LSTing.
Basically I pull a branch down to far and it split a little near the base of my stem. But I'm at wk4 day2 flowering. What you think about quick cropping?
Or would you pass given that I'm about half way there already?

I appreciated you for putting in all the time and effort to get this thread popping and keep it that way :joint:

I have had only tried proper super cropping once and it was in flower cos my baby's stretched I now like to lst and also snapped a few branches bending them and think the ones I don't snap grow better,

but each to there own Lst is just like scrog to me bud without a net and easy access to plants IMO

That's pretty much where I'm at right now lad(been LSTing only).
Wish I would've come across this thread 4 wks ago...

For now I'll pass until I can get fit my next crop in.
Appreciate your response :joint:

Wow, good to see some new people finding the thread and perhaps seeing the advantages of SC! Thanks for the kind words, I certainly didn't invent it, I just learned it from a friend of an old school grower and I've taken it as my signature grow style.

If you've read the thread I'm sure you understand that the concept is to crop early and often to spread the canopy of the plant to maintain proper penetration and take advantage of the limited footprint of artificial lighting to its maximum. That said, if you're just finding this thread after your flowering plants have already pushed through their stretch, its probably something you'll want to try with a higher degree of involvement for your next round. If you have vegging plants now, get started and the groundwork will already be laid by the time its go-time for flowering.

I personally do not object to cropping during flower, although i don't have a need for it often since i start cropping as soon as my clones and seedling start to veg. Occasionally I will try a new sativa strain that requires extra management and I certainly will crop during and through the stretch to shape her up the way I want her. After 4 weeks of flowering, a bit of cropping will help, but the stems tend to get "woodier" and are less pliable once you get later into flower, depending on strain. LST might be a better fit as some other people have suggested. I will try to post a video this week of a method I use to reduce the likelihood of snapping branches. More times than not, a snap works out just fine and the plant heals. Occasionally I will support it with bamboo and/or put a piece of masking tape around the snap if I feel I've over done it. That usually helps it mend and once it heals provides a nice "hinge". When an aggressive and repeated crop is done several times I end up with a knob that literally acts as a hinge and is quite durable. Once I get the hinge I can then crop out the upper branches that come later to completely flatten out the canopy before changing the photo period.

So, my answer is I would crop after 4 weeks, but it probably wouldn't be a main unless it was already hinged... More likely the individual branching of a crown if that makes sense.

You'll find the answer yourself, I can see you're experimenting and learning hands on, which is the final chapter of canopy management. People that grow traditionally without training think my plants look CRAZY, and many of them don't see the advantages of my style. I don't really have a precise method... Its like Jeet Kune Do of canopy management LOL. Good luck everyone, and please keep sharing the prOn when time allows!

Here is a video I shot last year cropping a woody stem. This would apply to young and very green plants too. I'm right handed, so this is the best I can explain how I do it verbally. I like to use my right thumb and forefinger on the outside of the bend, with my left index finger on the inside of the bend. Right thumb above the bend on the outer, right forefinger below the bend on the outer. Left index finger inside the bend applying a majority of the force while applying pressure with the right thumb. I hope this makes sense and helps for safer cropping throughout any and all stages.

After a crop or two in the same spot, its not uncommon to be able to bend the branch 180 degrees depending on strain.

That's wassup bro! Wise words and I appreciate the response.
Technically I'm still a noob, but in my mind I know I'm onto something! And one thing I do know for sure is that each and every grower is his/her own artist.
A "your grow is your art and my grow is my art" kinda thing!
And I have a lot of respect for that fact and I admire ppl doing their thing with their plants man! Indoor you can't grow massive plants height wise, so mastering the art of the small bush is essential given the lack of light power.
But everything you need to know in detail about super cropping is here w/ physical evidence. AND THAT'S WASSUP!

And I've been doing lots of learning tho, and in the process I've come across the word auxin.
Given what we're doing to the plants(manipulating them), I thought it'd be appropriate to throw the term around as I haven't seen it mentioned so far.

But basically every time we take the highest part of the plant and pull it down, we're redirecting its flow of auxins, which causes the plant to send these hormones to other places along the stem, so that it can find the next best shoot to push upward seeking apical dominance.
Super-cropping isn't the same thing as LST I know, but bringing the top of the plant down is what cause that branching, and bring the top down is redistributing the flow of auxins.

Just thought I let anybody who sees this post, know to look the word up!
I'm the type of guy who like to know why something happens when I do something you know?
And ere's an interesting read for you as well bro.
I'm sure you've seen the same words in some form or another but yeahhh, it's a nice read! Appreciate ya :joint:

That's what made me stop cutting tops off I have a printed of bit about auxins and if u bend the top down lower then ower branches it will send a new branch up to be the top and so on been a while since I read it took a few times aswell and still arnt on full terms with it all

Yessir! If I could sum it all up it'd go something like this:

-Our plants wanna grow w/ an apical top. Imagine a Christmas tree, now imagine an untrained weed plant growing with one giant cola and smaller one around it. That's allowing the plant to achieve apical dominance.
-Auxins are the hormone that force the plant to grow this way and they are most concentrated in the very tip of the plant. It's apical tip.

-When you pull that tip down you confuse the plant(LST), forcing it to find another top to try to make it dominant.
Continually pulling the highest point down until they're all even keeps the plant from achieving apical dominance, so rather than one big cola w/ smaller ones surrounding it, you get a lot of medium sized colas.

-When you cut that apical shoot off, it's called topping, and when you aim to remove 80% of the apical bud it's a F.I.M cut.
It's all manipulating the flow of auxins.
Topping and F.I.Ming force the plants to focus their energy on the lower part or the plants because we take out most of or all of the top apical chute with whichever cut we choose to make.

That's my POV on it tho. If you interpret anything differently just add to the reply :joint:

You 4 got about my Hubba Bubba Bomb bro! ;) she's 6 ft tall or more!! But I get what your saying though.. each of us has "our" art form

6ft tall! I think this if the first time I seen or read bout an indoor plant being that tall haha! Artificial lights don't penetrate as well as the sun hence keeping plants shorts to keep lights close! But hell, your pulling it off bra. And yes sir, every grower creates their own art! :joint:

Hmmmm... I could've swore that I've spoke with you before, giving you some advice, & asking you to check out my "6'ft" plant & my other girls... that's odd..Maybe I was just too stoned and imagined it.. who knows,lol... ;)
