Superponics Grow with 400w CMH and CO2

I bought a grow box with everything I needed because I didn't feel like building one.

I started off with a 200w CFL, but the guy at the hydro store told me about the CMH bulb and I was sold. Expensive but I'm sure I will make my money back.

Anyways, I put some mylar in my box to prevent algae and hydroton rock to cover the rockwool. I installed the 400w CMH bulb and and I got a huge freakin' CO2 tank pumpin' the goodness for 15 minutes every hour. I had 4 other seeds that I killed by covering them too deep into the hydroton. I packed it in like a dummy. I'm left with these 2 ladies until my other seeds arrive.

I forget the strains because I wanted to see it at the end. These two are either Bubblelicious, Jock Horror or Diesel Ryder. My next crop I will make sure I remember what is what. I have some Super Lemon Haze sittin' the sidelines right now.

one of them is getting too hot! I began misting them and it helped. The new growth is just fine.

ull need some ventilation with that 400 watt light it gets hot man check the temps n your cabinet. looks good though reps wouldnt let it get over 85 .

dang ur right! its about 110 in there! what the hell should i do? its a stealth box lol. whatever i gotta do. any ideas?

Hey I followed you here from the 400 Watt Club. And, welcome, you wont be disapointed with it.

Yes get some exhaust ASAP! 110 is way too hot. socialsmoker is right, I wouldnt let it get higher than 85. A little cooler would be better, if possible.

i bought another fan, opened up the box a bit and its cooling down... lets see how cool it gets... pictures to follow

there is no way you can get a 400w hps in there for flowering and keep cool. like its possible but its impossible to make it stealth, you would have a loud exhaust

i def cant keep it 100% stealthy... pssshhh

i would recommend getting a 150w hps tops for that case with a decent muffin fan (computer fan)--bigger the better. theres also a great thread on here from wolfmanzen about a diy carbon filter its great and realllly cheap and easy, he has a whole series on micro grows check him out

big update. day 14 veg

i took out the front and opened it up to give it more air. i bought a little fan to keep it cool. the temp now is 78-79F and for 15 minutes every hour i turn the fans off and give co2 and it gets up to 92 then the fans kick in after 15 minutes and co2 shuts back off. fans r on all night. i do that until the end of the night cycle. im doing 18/6 now. the box isnt really stealthy anymore unless my bedroom door is closed. which is fine. u can also see my carbon filter at the top next to my light. i also got nice nice roots so far. i got room for 4 more plants. I'm gonna germinate them this weekend. 4 auto plants... 2 white russian and 2 blueberry kush. right now like i said these 2 are ghosts... either jock horror, bubblelicious, or an autogrowing diesel ryder. hmmm

i have to be honest. this grow needs some work.

that cab was designed to run stealthy with a 200W CFL i would return back to it (you said the cabinet was prefab correct?)

your dark cycle the cabinet needs to be closed up. even the TINIEST glimmer of light during the dark cycle offsets the lights being off. dark cycle is just that DARK pitch, black no light whatsoever! you may be able to get by now, but once you begin to flower, that tiny glimmer of light during the dark cycle is going to lead to a fucked up harvest.

oh and what exactly is your ventilation system, i see your carbon filter, but is it connected to a fan of any kind?
i'm very confused by the grow cabinet lol. you need a fan actively exhausting air from the grow space, not JUST a circulation fan. that fan is good for building up the plants rigidity, but you also need fans that are pulling air out, and you can choose do intake fans, a passive intake "port" or vent is all you REALLY need. (so long as you have active exhaust)

very cool little cabinet though! i'm sure it IS stealthy when its all closed up.
by the way, just because its CFL doesn't mean it is shit, that 200W CFL in such a small space will lead to a KILLER harvest. ditch the MH bulb, your dude at the grow shop just wanted to make cash off you.

nah its good. everything is perfect now. temp is perfect. co2 is perfect. at first it sucked cuz the new light is great. it heated everything up like the sun. as for the light at night. it goes off late at night and im not dumb enough to fuck up the light cycle. y would i wanna put a light that is half as powerful back in there now? maybe b4 yea but i made enough modifications where this shit is all good now.
