Don't get the green ones. They have some messed up green paint. Probably some seriously toxic shit like lead that wipes right off on your hands or plants. I learned my lesson.
Pretty sure it would mention on the packaging if they were treated with a wood preservative or something toxic. Nothing on the pack of 2 footers I have but they are made in China so who knows. If it's a wood preservative it would be the copper based stuff like they use for lumber. I/m pretty sure it's just some dye to give them some colour.

I have 3, 4 and 6 footers too and they are all natural with nothing on them. Also from China. To make points on them I use the bench grinder. A lot easier than a knife and the shop smells like wood smoke after. :)

What about Silica for strong branches?

I know this is a HIGHLY controversial topic, but some dudes swear by the silica.

You can get like a years worth of silica for the same price as 25 stakes, so maybe it's worth a try.
