Suuuuuup? I have this seed that i germed and popped into the soil once the tap came out.. well... This baby is purple..the stem and the first leaves are purrrple.. Before i get too excited i need to know if this is normal for good genetics because i have been using nothin but bagseed that i have found over the years (from the best buds that happend to have some).

What do you think?

That's pretty normal, based on description alone. There are quite purple OG kush phenotypes out there. Having Hindu Kush lineage (which can be very colorful), I'd almost be expecting to see some color, or at the very least not be surprised.

Furthermore, there are several different, "brands" of OG Kush, some of which are homogenous, some have varying phenotypes.

like they said above I wouldn't worry about it too much, you should definately clone it or spray some CS on a lower branch and get some female seeds

Common. Also, if you get into flowering some strains with purple traits will actually deepen in color depending on how low your temps get...

Lower temp late in flowering kills the chlorophyll and zanaphyl just underneath is exposed which presents as purple.
its not so much about the temp, but the temp differential. You want a 25 degree F differential late in flowering to bring out the purp.

Good genetics are the way to go for good purple. I never lower temperature myself, but then again half of the strains I have are naturally purple, even at 85F +
Strong purple traits will show in the first week of flower regardless of temp.

I imagine though if everything I produced was green I'd probably lower temp to get some color. For me, I want the effect that most purple buds have - heavy and deep indica stone which often feels a bit more narcotic than other indicas.
Lowering temp just changes appearance. In the summer, I tend to run across purple buds that are what I'm looking for, but in winter it's a mixed bag because it's easy to change appearance and call it whatever, (i.e. saw some Afghan Kush called, "Purple Kush" because it had some purple, which is inaccurate as Purple Kush is a different strain with different lineage).

But hey, if all you want is appearance, why not lower temps?
I guess what I don't like is when people deliberately alter the color so they can sell for more $$ or pass it off as something exotic. To me that's kind of like adding bubble gum flavor to weed and calling it Bubblelicious.
