Suspending your lights

If you didnt have a tent, what would you use to hold your lights up? I dont want to risk them falling and crushing my girls. Anybody have words of wisdom for me?

I have used string and some push pins in the ceiling before. I have since upgraded to eye hooks and light hangers.

This. Just make sure you find a stud if you are going through drywall first.

You can construct a stand with PVC pipe to hang your lights from.

My hydro Guy uses sinkers into the drywall. Idk exactly what they're called

sometimes the studs/joists are running the wrong way and you might have to do something like this, the mover being optional of course but highly recommended given the right circumstances .

Dont do this bro. Use hook in the ceiling ,chain and and S shaped hooks for the light, i just make hooks from a cut up plastic coathanger.

I used screw in eyes then ran some 3/16 cable from one to the other and slid a 10' piece of pipe over the cable. So basically I can hang all 3 lights from it.

Find a stud in the ceiling and grab a 2x4 and mount it to it. Use that as your mounting point. Then grab some hydrofarm adjustable ratchet hangers and you're good to go. Easy to adjust and holds a good amount of weight. The 2x4 will allow you to mount your ballast,hangers,fan or whatever else without further damaging your drywall.

How many hoods are you hanging and what size's are they (xxl,xxxl etc)?

You can build a simple light stand with 2x4s. Here is a crude drawing I did in paint fro someone who asked the same question. For some reason I still have it in my pictures.




Or you can find the studs going across the ceiling and just use eye hooks like someone here mentioned, and use simple clothesline rope or paratroopers cord as a hanger. You would just need to screw a piece of wood into a wall stud or on any item heavy enough to suspend lights and screw four drywall or wood screws into this wood block (2 screws for each side of light) and just wrap cord around two screws in a figure 8 like with a boat being docked once you have lights at height you want.
Here is a pic of that block with the screws where you warp cord. Simple. This is on top of my small clone room.

Here is another way. Just using adjustable shelving arms. When the grow is operating, I extend a couple shelf arms up higher and run chains to my HID lighting.

Everything is adjustable, clean, and very sturdy.
