Swampwaters Perpetual Grow - Newbie learning the ropes

Well, the Indica plant #3 has completed Ten weeks and showing no amber (I wonder if it is the light? T-5) but she looks killer. My issues with cloning have been a real pisser. My first batch worked really well (I was anal following my notes). After that I think I got cocky because I killed like over fifty clones, I was only able to save a few. In fact I lost a strain (Blue Dot) by killing all of her clones after I sent the mother to bloom. However, I have gone back to my notes, done some studying and come up with a replacement for the superthrive (can't get it in Oregon). after a week or so with just 5.5 water I mixed some Cyco B1, Potash, and some of the rooting compound I use (Wood's rooting) in the cloner to stimulate rooting (it worked). After about five days roots started to show and I added Supernatural "Ultimate Thrive" at half strength. Things are looking mutch better this time. Also, I bumped into an artical about stem scraping so I thought WTF WHY NOT! so I give some of the clones a little scrape here and there. SHIT! whear I scrape I get clusters of roots, check it out.
Each strain responds differently to cloning. Some root better than others (check out the ATF) I credit scraping for thetight groopings of roots. I try to scrape at several points to establish roots on all sides of the stem. I have also added some cuttings late after the "Ultimate Thrive" to see if there is a differance by starting with the nutes rather than plain water. Like I said "Learning the ropes". (These were cut two weeks ago)

i was in the same boat as you with my cloning, 1st one was awesome, 2nd, super bad... now im on my 3rd run (recapped my notes before)

dude! i love your diy scrog rig, inventive. this my first time growing, so using dirt is probably the best option for me right now, ive learned soo much so far. and still earning quite a bit...
nowww, can you really tell if the rooting hormones speed things up?

im still up in the air on whether to add nutes to the cloning rez, or not.. after the cuttings start to root, would you believe that adding nutes to the rez speeds things up? makes them any better?

one of these days ill find my medium. till then, gonna see what i can do with whats i gots..

thanks for stopping by! once my dirt ffof supply ruins out ( fairly soon here) im going to try something a little more fancy.. im trying to get a nice perpetual going, so i feel there are better mediums to choose along the ride through the cycles...
you dont seem to update too often, but when you do, please stop by and throw me any pointers. my first time! all info helps

These days I use a few things in my cloner like b1, potash, roots excel, rooting hormone. then after a week or so when roots show I mix new water and add roots excel, ultimate thrive, b1 and let them go till they show signifigant new growth. Total time is about three weeks and the roots will be all entangeled growing in the water. from there they take off really well. Keep pushing and experimenting and have fun.:peace:

No I don't post very often any more, I just happened to see your journal and it reminded me of the shit I went through in the beginning. I,ll put together an update to show where I am at now (one year into growing). I now have four 600 watt HPS, a dehumidifier, AC, Co2, and UVB light in bloom and three 48" and two 24" T-5's for veg and cloning. My schedual is aproximetly every ten days a plant goes to bloom, harvest gets more sperattic as finnishing times verry with every plant/strein.

Here is most likely my last post for 2012, been growing ten months now and still looking for my nitch. I have added light and am currently working on a two week cycle mixing up my seven differant strains. I still have the WW/Blu Magoo, Hippie Crippler, Raspberry Kush, Purple Kush, University of Washington, ATF, and the original Kerby's #1 from my first seeds. I have gone away from dirt; the PH and nutriant issues were one thing but the fucking bugs involved in growing with dirt pissed me off beyond. Today its coco w/pearlite or 100% pearlite. The entire project has grown from a 3x6 bloom area and two little T-5 to what you see in the pics. I do not take all of the plants in veg to bloom. I clone often and give unwanted teens away to be grown or chopped up for more clones. This is workong well, now I'm only concentraiting on two or three plants in veg that are being trained for bloom, and the four to five stages that are in bloom at any given time.IMG_9882.jpg

Here is what I'm doing these days. I have given up the SCROG for breaking them down and training them flat with yoyo's this is my forth one this way. They keep getting better.

I will see if I can keep up with regular postings on this one. She is a WW/B-Magoo cross that has produced well in the past. this is the first one I have grown in this manner. She worked well in a scrog but the scrog frame is too big a pain for me to deal with when moving between veg and bloom. This is one day in bloom, I just flushed her and started with the bloom nutes (Cyco base nutes). I use 600 watt HS in bloom. I veg with T-5's.IMG_0005.jpg

She is about six weeks old and the canopy mesures about 50" X 40"

This is like two weeks day 16. I hope she is done stretching, buds are starting nicely. She is gonna require a lot of thinning to let the light in.IMG_0020.jpg

Still pushing the Cyco nutes with a little tweak or two. Here is the Raspberry I just finished. Love the way this one smells.
