sweden has higher rates of rape because they record instances of rape much differently than all other EU nations.
if a woman reports rape by an intimate partner over the last year, they record each and every instance where it happened as a rape. other nations do not do that. they also have a much broader definition of what sexual assault is compared to other EU nations.
an international victim survey where people from all different nations are asked the same question shows that sweden isn't even the rape capitol of northern europe.
