Switched from AN to Jacks HydroFeed 16-4-17 + Epsom salt in coco and...

Switched from using what felt like 100 AN bottles to an all-in-one from JR Peters. I found it to be seriously lacking enough mag for coco (to be expected) but we all know how easy a fix that is. For my plants in flower I'm supplementing with their 10-30-20 bloom booster..

I was kind of worried that I would be spending a lot of time messing around with the pH pens etc since AN was supposedly "pH perfect" but believe it or not the pH has been just as stable and the stems/leaves/flowers have never looked better.

I fell for AN's claims of being the "only company that produces nutrients specifically for cannabis" but nutrients are nutrients..


I got my hands full or I would write a more thorough review but this stuff is the truth, and AN is full of crap!

Cannabis based nutrient companies try to make it seem like rocket science, but the reality is that they make using their products like rocket science.

You should try using hydrobuddy. You can add Jack's hydro to the substance database and use it as an ingredient to make other formulas. That will allow you to see how adding epsom salts changes the nutrient profile.

(production cost may be off. You can set that in the substance database)

Also, does your Jack's hydro have any sulfur in it? It seems like it doesn't have any sources of sulfur, and thus why the magnesium sulfate helps.

Nothing really to add here. One question though...I am wondering why you chose what you did instead of the 5-12-26 hydro ferts Jacks offers? It seems you might be lacking in phosphorus with the numbers you listed?

Their 16-4-17 is their all in one.. 16-4-17 is perfect for veg and then I supplement with a supper high phosphorous bloom booster that is 10-30-20... Adding more bloom booster and using just a little less of the base nutrient as I progress through flowering

If it works it works. I've thought about switching to dry nutes myself but still on the fence. I was thinking using there 5-12-26 along with calcium nitrate and magnesium sulfate. Would be a hell of a lot cheaper

about to start first grow. I plan on using100% coco and not sure which nutrients to go with weather it be a hydro or soil base. with the calcium nitrate that would be just for early stages. after which i would flush it out? any input would help. thanks

The 16-4-17 has been working GREAT for me... Just add the 10-30-20 bloom booster during flowering and you're in the money! Good luck with your grow!

Do you think you will ever only use the bloom booster without the veg mix? If you did, would you add mag to that too? Or are you just adding some (a lot?) of the bloom booster to the 16/4/17/epsom salts mix you used for veg?

I got a little calcium deficiency on one plant after I cycled in the 10-30-20. CalNit and some dolomite lime seem to be helping.
