Switching from CFL to HPS

I have just recently taken 10 plants that were vegging under my cfl's. They are now in the cabinet with 600w HPS x 2. They have been under for a couple days now, and they have been topped. I was thinking about another week of veg. Then flip to 12/12 and start flowering.

Is there anyone out there who goes directly from cfl (veg) to hps (flower) without acclimation?

Could I flip in a week (the height would be ideal) or should i give them more time to get used to the hps?

A week sounds good to me, but I want to hear what some well experienced ganja farmers have to say :)

Thanks :bigjoint:

Well yeah i would wait so you dont shock the plants somehow and stunt their growth. I havent ever done this so i cant really confidentaly say anything. Just keep it under the HPS for another week or so i would guess, and im guessing your keeping the light a good 2 ft away from your girls right?

I have one 600w on for now, switch em everyday so they alternate. And right now the lights are 2 feet away, I topped some of them keeping a couple single cola plants. Yeah I don't want to stunt them during their flowering.

My intake is sucking in air that is 12 celcius, but my grow room ranges 26.5 - 23.5 lights on. I am currently trying to dial in the night temperature using heater fans, and a big ass box. I am mixing the heater air with the colder air in the box. Then in taking air that is hopefully around 20 degrees. I wish the cabinet was in the house rather then the garage :( Would be a lot easier to control.

Is 12 celcius too cold to intake? While lights are on? I have very good ventilation and air movement.

Well where i live i dont use celcius but a few things in my though are

1. what is the temp in your garage?

2. you said your switching the lights, switching from what to what?

3. can you get pics, i am having a hard time visualize what your dealing with

If temp is a problem due to your lights then you should try to exhaust the hot air out pushing heat out more from from the lights while pushing cooler air in. I keep my girls about 80 degrees F during light hours and drop to low 70's when lights go out.

I would wait another week at least. They are going to grow alot faster under those HPS's compared to the CFL's.
I keep my girls under CFL's in my clone room untill I'm ready for them. They don't grow nearly as fast under the CFL's.
Here is a picture of one of my girls taken yesterday right before I switched over to flower.
This bitch has been vegging under 1000w Dual-arc lights for 4 weeks. I'm shooting for 1/2lb:bigjoint: per plant.

Canada :)

I have two lights they are air cooled. my grow room (cabinet on wheels) automated is 80 to around 76 lights. By switch I mean put the other light on for that day. Alternating for now. Then when the time is right I will be using both lights at once.

The temp in my garage is 10 degrees so 50 But inside the cabinet with lights on is around 78.5

Overnight I will try my best to not let it dip below 68.5 in my cabinet lights off. I would like to post pics, but maybe when they finish. Do not like pictures and the internet :-(

maybe too many of :bigjoint::bigjoint::bigjoint:
I will make a journal when she is done. Dank as fuck :D

Ive never heard of a plant needing to acclimate (?) when coming from CFL's to HPS, I have heard of this when going from indoor to outdoor tho.

U got me...

I immediately switch from CFL's 24/0 to HPS 12/12 with no drawbacks..I even continue feeding veg nutes for a few weeks to get a little extra growth in before the buds start.

But ive never heard of nedding to 'small chunk' up to HPS from CFL's, I dont see the need.

Well, My one 125w CFL and two tube 40w daylight fixtures are nothing to my 1200 watts of hps. It is like supercharging them, if they are not ready for it it will fry them.
I am going to chill for a couple of days and get the night temps correct. Then flip to 12/12 Thanks for you help guys !

i honestly dont think that matters.
whats more important is that u keep the light the right distance away from the plants(which u are doing)
and keep the temps under control (which u are doing)

sounds like u have a good idea what to do, so keep it up and good luck to u:leaf:

Thanks bro. Yeah the temps are a concern. You seem to have a lot of knowledge as well.

If I intake air that is around 50 - 55 degrees is that fine? Meanwhile the grow room is reading 78.2 as of ten minutes ago.

The strain is indica dominant and is just below half the height of the grow room. You are saying you have no drawbacks. :) I will be flipping Tonight :)

Thanks for everyone's input :D

The ten in the cabinet seem to be doing fine with the hps. They are adjusting to the environment, and a couple of them have some droopy leaves. It is not from under or over watering. Will the plants pull out of this, once they get used to the light?
