Switching from organic to Advanced Nutes

Recently ive been thinking about switching from my organic nutrients to Advanced Nutrients. I've been talkin with my local "man" and he says advanced nutes offer such great results (lots of leaves and nodes, thick stalk, big buds) because they have additives that allow your plants to uptake the nutes automaticly.

I just want word back from anyone who has experience with advanced nutrients and could just tell me a little more about them.

thank you

I use AN and they are absolutely awesome. They do cost a bit more but you get what you pay for.

ive been using an since i started and wouldnt recomend anything else. period. check my grow. i get the size and harvest yields that soil grows get in almost 1/4 of the time. these babies are only 2 and a half months old. i wet the sedds on nov 1. oh, pic 4 is from dec 27. so a little younger in that pic.

My grow is in my sig. I used FF Grow Big and then the Botanicare Problend Soil 1-4-5 for flower. I started at almost the exact time as Andrew. My plants are now on day 30 of flower. The most recent pics are from 3-4 days ago. Im pretty noob but to tell you the truth, I think just about any food with the correct NPK's and traces, combined with an airy, chronic medium, the correct PH and the correct temp/humid, not to mention light will be fine. I think overfocusing on the nutes is a mistake I know a few of my personal friends insist on making ALL THE TIME.

AN is for people who don't know any better. They're over-priced, over-marketed, and you'll get better results at a much cheaper price by using formulas that are more complete with better NPK ratios.

thats not fair. ive compared other nutrients. Advanced makes bagseed look like $30 a seed genetics. but yes, they are overpriced and easy to use. hence the newbie comment

But they're not easy to use. As a company, they've purposely split up their mineral salts into multiple parts so even if a user were to only use their base nutes, they'd still need four bottles since each of the grow and bloom bases are split up into two parts. To that, the resulting NPK ratios of said bases leaves room for their 'bloom boosters' because the combined NPKs don't result in ideal ratios for all stages of bloom. AN, as well as several other companies, is in the business of selling you as many bottles as possible and when you're using 5 different bottles to grow plants and problems arise, where do you start in order to fix your problem?

There are a lot of growers getting excellent results with many other brands, so why use the most expensive brand when they provide no additional benefit?

OP - Use what you want, but from an experienced grower to a less experienced grower, go with a brand that doesn't specialize in robbing it's consumers.

well what do you use? i have used sensi 2 part for veg and flower in a dwc setup and i used sensizym for an additive. i havent used supplements before so i dont know what their effects are but i can tell you that my plants were not deficient of any minerals or mg etc... leaves were green flowers were resinous and i got a decent gram/watt amount. im not sticking up for an against other products because i cant see anyd difference. i just have an excess of an nutes(bought the big bottles..). but bagseed looks real good in hydro with gh and an.
o, not easy to use? why not?

In our small collective, some use AN, some use Bio-Bizz, some use MG......The AN grown buds usually taste like dirt.....but I agree that results with AN is very good for the most part.....I personally use Bio-Bizz products....
I looked into AN but found them cost prohibitive for my meager budget.......and I have seen my plants growth compares favorably with my buddies AN and tastes a whole lot better.

they are in different bottles because of calcium. its 2 part for a reason and its a 5050 mix so if you burned it back off that easy seems like homebrew doesnt know how to use it
Sulfur is the element that tends to bond to other elements, not calcium. Other companies can put together 1 part forumlas without minerals bonding, why can't AN? It's because 2 parts make more money than one part.

I use GH, Botanicare and DynaGro and am slowly transitioning to DynaGro for both soil and Hydro. I'm just saying that the base nute NPKs of conni and sensi (which is 1-1-2 for both) are not ideal for flowering and are designed to allow room for their bloom boosters. Ideally you want a 1-2-1 or better yet, a 1-3-2 for bloom. You can achieve these ideal ratios with AN but you need their other products and they designed it like that on purpose.

maybe its in two bottles just the same reason why theres a 3 part mix. when you mix sensibloom together certain compounds come together and react. this reaction is what cause the plant matter to more readily take the nutes in.
o and when mixed 50/50 sensibloom has an npk value of 5.8 - 4.6 - 8.8. sensipart a is 4.3 - 0 - 3.1. sensipart b is 1.5 - 4.6 - 5.7.
what kind of hydro do you do?

Right, minerals at high concentrations can bond to one another but as I asked earlier, why can't they put it into one part as other companies do it with no issues. The 3 part is split up for reasons other than 'bonding'. The 3 part can be used in different ratios to accommodate the needs of plants at all stages of growth. If you want to veg with the sensi formula, you need an additional two more bottles for your base.
o and when mixed 50/50 sensibloom has an npk value of 5.8 - 4.6 - 8.8. sensipart a is 4.3 - 0 - 3.1. sensipart b is 1.5 - 4.6 - 5.7.
I should have said 'npk ratio' in regards to the NPK values. Regardless, a 5.8-4.6-8.8 is not ideal for flowering but of course it would probably work just fine. Why is the phosphorus number the lowest value? They would have done well to change those numbers up to 4.6-8.8-5.8 but in order to get a higher phosphorus value, you now need to purchase a 'booster' of theirs, that's what I'm pointing out.

what kind of hydro do you do?
I'm in an DIY Ebb and Flow system with rockwool cubes. It's ghetto but works very well.

umm. why is a 3 part any different from a 2 part? your just being weird now. its two part so you can use more of part a if you wanted more veg growth. say in early flowering. use sensi part b more later in flowering. thats why part a has no P value. because you slowly fade out on part a as you go along. imd one....
obviously youve never used sensi or any an products from the comments your making. if you dont like an just say so. dont misinform people of their products. IE "hard to use, not ideal, need to buy supplements." like ive said before. ive never used supplements or bud boosters or whatever. my 2 part sensi works just as advertised. easy and good.

The Sensi line has a grow and a bloom formula and based on your response above, I don't think I feel like helping you anymore ;). Good luck.

Homebrewer isn't a big fan of AN, but lots of people around here are. I think even homebrewer would concede that in the end, all nutrients are mostly the same shit, and will work just as well as any other, some people just prefer the name brand things (same goes with everything: electronics, cars, etc.). AN, Botanicare, FF, H&G, GH....they will all help you grow dank.

Are they more expensive?
Yes.
Do they work well?
Yes.
Is it worth it?
Too subjective to say.
