Switching light from 600w to 1000w

Running at 1000w, my plants showed signs of heat stress. Switching off every day from 600 to 1000 for the last couple days. will this effect the plants in a negative way? Flipped to 12/12 13 days ago. Soil grow, 5g pots, 2 dimmable ballasts with 1000w hps bulbs.

run it on a 1000 and raise it up a little, get a fan moving across top of plants.

Lights are air cooled, I have 2 small fans blowing over top of plants and lights are about 3 feet above plants. Didn't have an issue in my last grow but this run I got Cataract Kush and I heard they like a cooler climate
