Switching moms from E&F to hand watering

well i currently keep about 12 moms in a 2x4 flood table but i want to use the table for flowering. moms are under flouro's and i want to hand water them until i can set up another room for them. but this will be quite a while from now. i use gh 3 part for all my tubs and the moms are in individual pots with a small (1/4'') amount of rw floc in the bottoms covered by hydroton. i'm thinking i can leave them in the pots they are in and hand water them. am i crazy?

so i am used to making tubs of food every few weeks and dont have a clue how to go about doing this properly. can i hand water them in what they are in as many times per day as i flooded them? (3) or do i have to transplant them into soil or some other crap like foxfarm?

so, ya......when to water them.
when to feed them, what they need to go in. etc.

kinda funny.....most times it's soil guys trying to figure out how to go hydro. i dont have a clue how to take care of moms outside of a flood table. any help is greatly needed. i cant afford to screw this up. so i'll wait patiently for some of you kind folks to help me out.

How big and how old? I would just pot them in some soil and hope they make it thru the shock..

U may also want to consider Coco perhaps. Its very easy to keep a mom in a 20 oz cup if u wish to. And u can feed them exactly like ur feeding ur EandF moms. They are much more manageable. Same PPM and PH as a water set-up. I guess coco is just another form of hydro. Same results too.

umm, 3 of them are less than a year old. and the rest are 3 or 4 months old. so they are all very established. and the soil is part of the problem....what soil. idk anything about soil. at all!

so hand water them 2-3 times per day if using the same medium. ok. if i go to something else i'm lost though.

Hey Bugz. As mentioned above you can leave them and handwater 2-3 times a day. That may be a failing strategy. I would go to coco. Coco is handwatered w/ 5.8 PH nutes just like hydro. It does not hold excess water like soil so overwatering is more difficult. I would transplant into 3-5 gallon buckets full of coco and water every few days w/ the same mix.

Just do DIY ebb/flow tray...

It ill water your plants automatically, even if you get stoned and forget...

Bugs I just took some out of my 3x3 tray and put them on plates, kitchen plates, big white ones. Still in the 6 in RW Hugos with a coco mat under the blocks.

For watering I mix up a 5 gallon bucket of my normal veg and hand water when needed. By lifting the plate and plant I can tell if they need to be watered. Just like rooting in RW except bigger.

Yea Bugs Bro.. I was thinking man.. Depending on the size of the pot u decided to use with the Coco..If u decided to use coco.. U should only have to water/feed every 3 days or so with 1 gallon bags..
I have phased all my moms over to coco now.
I figured since u where thinking about soil.. Id offer another idea. I didnt have to change much up at all in coco.. Matter of fact im saving alot of nutes on the veg side especially.
And u could do what GB said to.. But just time the bags to water every few days.
I dunno but coco is working for me and im feeding and ph'ing my coco plants identical to my dwc plants.
It wasnt much new actually.

yea i kinda agree with gypsy ....sounds like you know what is up with your ebb and flow ...and switchin mediums would cut down your watering needs ....but i think that the medium you are using is prlly what you should work with ...since that is your method you know best ........

i just recently built a few stinkbud systems ....and i cannot believe the diff in growth rate .....basically its like the fastest i have ever seen in my trays ......and a bit better

thing is i am converting my whole setup to new aero/nft sys ....i use to run 2 1000 watt over 2 4x4 trays
and in veg room i kept 2 3x3 trays .....

anyways not to get off subject ....i think you should DIY your own tray

well i thought long and hard. then my 400w digital chinese pos burnt up which forced me to think longer and harder.

so i figured you guys were right....stick with what i know. so the moms stay in the 2x4 and i just built a wall around them so it's light proof-ish and put a seperate exhaust in there but so far it's not needed
then i put my cloner under an existing work table i had in the room and enclosed that. with a fan. it's on the concrete and loves the cold floor. i took the panda film down enclosing my two 2x4 tables and hung the other 1000w hps on the light mover on the other side of the room. about 4' above where i put my newly finished nft system. (not stinkbuds)
there are 2 runs with 12 sites each fed by a 36 gallon res with a 1056 gph eco pump keeping things moving.
air stones and the waterfalls should keep things very well oxygenated.
so now i have used all the available squre footage VERY efficiently.
moms and clones are under flouro's and the 2-2x4's have their own 1000 and the nft has it's own 1000 on the light mover. and they side light each other nicely. the a.c. in the room is handling everything ok but i'm about to get a bigger one to put in there just to be safe. i finished installing the new wiring and now have 3 20amp breakers to run the whole show.....way more than i need btw. so i need to go take pice right now and update several threads because i am finally done. new cuttings going in the new system in a few more days. and i'm going back to 3 week cycles. my sweet god didnt make the cut....the mothers died and i am not going to get more. i liked it but my white widow is in much higher demand for some reason. everyone goes gaga for that shit.
on a side note i'm clean and sober these days
work got me on a random and sent me to rehab and as long as i wanna work there i cant smoke. so here's to early retirement.

ummm o and what is your total wattage in bloom i use two 1000w hps in aircooled hoods wired to 220 timer that is running the 4 SB systems ....basically i built em bigger than he did so two side by side makes almost and exact 5x5 area .... which should get better light usage of that 1000 watt

i wish i had light movers i hear those are a big upgrade for efficiency

2 1000w hps for bloom. 1 over the 2 2x4 trays and 1 over the nft system on a light mover. 6'' between sites and 5" in from each end

i love stink and his system these days but simplicity is a growers best friend so i said fuck the sprayers drippers or timers.

the guy i'm modeling it after swears by them. but they have their limits. and i'm not pushing them. i just wanted a bit more than ol' stinkster's system provided. that being said, if the shit sucks then i will put sprayers and in the runs. but i wonder if i can run it 24/7 instead of the timer. normal nft never stops so i dont see why not. in fact i think it will be better due to the insane amount of dizzolved o2 i'm putting in there between the stones and waterfalls.

o i know that runnin em constant did fine actually with stinks system .......i did however see a diff when i switched to timer ....only thing is tho ...that is when roots finally took and it could have just been that


u know i might try a unit with constant on ......cause i just built second and have all parts for 3rd and 4th

i will run next two with one constant and one timed .......ill find out what the real diff is ...

it will be a really controlled experiment too cause it will be identical strains in same nutes and started at same time

those timers are expensive

o one more thing i started my clones in rockwool cause that is wht i have been doin past 6 months

and ther was np with anythin ... i just dropped that rockwool cube into the net cup and then waited for a long root system ...then bam into bloom .....

i am real exited about not having to transplant or deal with pots and medium anymore

o one more question .....what size net cups do you use /are you using ....and do you use any type of medium to clone

yea this cool we use exact same wattage and nutes .......i basically shit myself in last couple weeks on how well this new thing is workin for me ...

i am a newbie only been doin this like 2 years solid ..

but in that two i have prlly done a good half pound every month on average

i enjoy the whole medical thing and like to give it cheap to my patients ....

i use 2'' net pots with no medium at all.and i've had my aerocloner built before good ol stinkster ever did his. but he saved me with the timer. absolutely needed it for my set up. i only use kool bloom in week 4-5 and dont flush unless i'm using the potty. that's just more $$ to spend on shit i dont need. my widow taste like sweet all by itself. why fuck with perfection?

and my clones have roots hanging low when i transplant them so they get a bit of veg. and will hit the ground running when i put them in the nft.

dude that sounds like a solid plan .......if you have the timer tho ....i wonder if it would help out on the type of sys u runnin ....then agin maybe when ther are no direct sprayers you might wqant to run constant ....

lol i will know how nft with direct feed sprayers do under 24/7 ....i just got established clones to fill 2 diff new systems so the variable will only be the sprayer timer ....

yea fuk flushin lol i dont do it either .....that is a week without growin to me ....i like to finish in 8 weeks and if strain cant handle it is usually filtered out .......most of my xp with strains is from nirvana

im talkin bout nirvanas ww tho ....i only like to give advice bout somethin i have actually put to practice


and ww likes to be lollypopped for sure ....she does so nice that way ...i have grown her out both ways ....and i prefer the prune right after they stretch in bloom

[/QUOTE]gotta hammer ya a lil on this one. any air stone is only as good as the ambient air it is pulling it's supply from. since mine is filtered and constantly coooled with a.c. my res temps stay a fairly constant 67-69 degrees and my tubs all sit on the cool concrete floor thus my dizolved o2 is outfuckinstanding. add waterfalls to the equasion and viola!, you have yourself one mean ass super oxygenated nute soup. add my secondary 396 gph ecoplus submersible pumps hooked up to nothing and just used for circulating the water and you have a bacteria resistant violent flow of water that stays cold and full of do2.
