Switching phases???

My apologies if this has been gone over before (I couldn't find this info in any archives!). I am a LONG time toker, but relatively new to the art of horticulture.

Anyway, what I am trying to find out is:

Say, hypothetically I had 30 seedlings growing under my fluoros. Once they got around 6" tall, I switched to lighting via a 600 watt (95,000 lumen) HPS system. They have been running 24/7 for, oh say, 3 weeks. If I switch to 12/12 for 2 weeks to force the plants to show sex, can I then go back to 24/7 and return to the vegetative phase without too much adverse effect?

The hypothetical goal is to end up with 10 or 12 FEMALE plants to run through the rest of the veg phase. Space is at a premium, so there is no time or space to waste on males unnecessarily!!

Any help/advice will be GREATLY appreciated!!!!!

Well hypotheically, lmao , The answer is , Why yes of course and if u go back to veg u can also take cuttings for clones and then flower them and keep main plant as a mother or keep clone for future mother. The benefits of flowering clones is of course guaranteed females.Your welcome.

take a cutting and put it on 12/12 light cycle, should be able to tell in 2-3 weeks what sex they are, just make sure you mark which cuttings are from which plants. then if a cutting is male you know to kill the plant you took it from.

Thanks for the quick feedback guys!!!!!

That is exactly what I needed to know!!

Please forgive the "hypotheticals" --- I am more than a little paranoid about discussing such things on the web. i guess I'm just old fashioned. This looks like a GREAT site!!! I expect I'll spend a lot of time on this one.
