T5 grow question

I have a few questions actually.
With a 8 bulb t5 using 6 red bulbs and 2 blue for flower, what is the yield out like? I'm not expecting the same compact buds that mh or hps give, I'm just wanting to make sure its even worth using the light to flower. The only reason I'm using it is for heat prevention.
And people recommend 1 month veg, 2 month flower. But I'm thinking of going 6 weeks veg and 2 and a half months of flower just to try and increase any growth that might now be at its full potential, any one have any thoughts on that??

Well with floresents I would flower them as soon as possible because floresents only reach so far. I have seen alright grows that grew pretty good for just using cfl ,t5 etc. The buds are nowhere near as dense and they seem to be more potent with Hps/mh as that could be cause the larger bulbs produce more light and light= amount of thc produced as in vegatation. Try it out just make shore u post some pics of your harvest so all can learn.

I been flowering with a t5 and I get around 4oz per plant veg for 3 week after rooting clone roots lol. Lst I run 4 veg and 4 flower bulbs smart pots and the go box most has to do with what strain you got I run chronic ,NL#5 ,skunk the smallest harvest I have and was 3 ounce and almost a 1/8

I'm using DWC , with blue dream x 2 , Casey Jones and a headband and. All are LST and still get fanned and stretched out every chance i see leafs getting budged together.. I have grow thread started if you want to check on all that.

Hey doobie, do you top your plants and Howe many times? Are there any tips or tricks with the t5s that help get more growth potential

fist lets get one thing in place ..

a plant (different strains take different time) will finish when it finish ..

you cant just flower it longer to get more yield .. dont work that way .. you will get less yield and a way more stoney smoke with very little high in it .. so to speak .. and wait even longer and you get a dead plant ..

insted get a 100x microscope and check thricomes .. do some research .. I like mine with 20-30% amber and mostly cloudy ..

flowering time on seed packets is mostly pretty close with in a week or so ..

secconly .. I use T5HO

(get the HO type or even VHO and with as high Watt as possible)

mine is 49W and the 5 ft type as I got em for free at work .. 6 tubes .. use em for veg (have a 600W HPS for flowering)
I mix mine with 4x 6500K and 2x2700K as I only Veg with em .. I would probably do it vise versa in flowering ..

importent with T5 (or any fluorescent light) is to keep the plants with in 10 inch`s and try to keep the top at 2"

tubes dont provide much light after 12"

I checkd

fist pics is my 600W HPS witch provide 3-7K foot candles between 10" to 30"

have a hard time to get more then 1-2K under the T5 (witch is plenty for the Vegetive stages .. but a little short for flowering stages)

keep em low .. keep em close to the light .. use the best tube with the highest watt as possible and use 2700K/5000K/6500K bulbs .. make sure to changes them every year or so (when they get really dark at the ends)

OK. So how do the 600s do? I was really considering getting one or two for flower and using the t5 for veg (next grow).

one or two ? do some research please ..

one is enough unless you want to grow for more then personally use ..

HPS lights get hot .. specially the high wattages .. need good ventilation .. and a cool tube/hood would be a good move ..

if I should advice you .. I would go for the T5HO .. get a nice 4-8 tubes and use it to veg some (4) plants .. wile you do that do some more research and safe up for a nice 400W or 600W HPS with cool tube .. and a good 5-6 inch ventilator with a filter to match ..

then in a month or so when the plants is nice and big ...hopefully.. you get the HPS and start flower them ..
