this is my CFL veg room using 6 tube 54 watt and 2 24 watters. works decent.
bottom middle plant is bagseed thats showing preflowers and shocked inthe photo cause i transfered it to a bag since its a girl. this bitch is under a t5 running simple ass veg nutes. I pulled a male bagseed same size as bottom right last night and I suspect bottom right is a man too but gonna wait it out cause its too close to tell still...these plants are on 18/6 and full dose organic veg nutes (cheap shit) in organic soil.
I cut fan leaves the size of my hand off that sweet tooth mom to increase light penetration but she would do fine without that...dont hate on CFLs.. but on the real mursh quit fucking with them so much is my personal opinion. Less is more.
My opinions are usually backed by facts... But I hear You...
And to be honest... your plants look good in VEG... But wait til you flower.... Not so dense buds. I never claimed CFLs will not produce buds. But there is a differance between a plant that has been flowered under a HPS & CFLs... I noticed the difference.. And that is why I choose HPS.... Happy growing....

But as far as reinventing the Sun... I would say LEDs and all the other noise is reinvention oppose to the good ol' HPS.... Correct me if I am wrong....
I don't see anything wrong with LEDs in a grow but not by themselves... I will never use an LED but happy growing....
Though the world changes with technology the sun has been the same. The same is true with Plant Biology...

HPS lights are like the original setting for grow rooms. I don't think people are trying to reinvent the HPS I just think they are finding different ways to grow. Believe me I am with you, I would never run ALL LEDs. But in conjunction with an HPS? What could it hurt? Most people are turned off when they see the price tag and that is understandable but look at everything in our market that is NEW. When products come out for the first time I bet you they are ridiculous in the price tag. For example, I bet when the HPS came out everyone was like, "you can't imitate the sun." and now look almost everyone growing uses some sort of high intensity lighting. I am not trying t argue just name a point. Mot people think LEDs suck....they don't! Give LEDs a chance like we all did HPS and I believe we will see some amazing results. I will try to find the thread I was reading earlier yesterday and t was speaking of how led lights are more easily absorbed (researched by a 3rd party) then any other light. The only thing they lack according to the article is luminosity. That is why I believe and will be using LEDs with my HPS.

Haha when HPS lights first came out it was some crazy fool who decided to put a street light over his plants! Lol. I'm sure everyone thought he was nuts but I'm also sure that he was the last one laughing

True... In conjunction with an HPS would be fine but anything else would be retarded in my eyes... I have done a little looking into LEDs and yes they do lack the luminosity like CFLs. I have always thought if a CFL or LED is your primary light then it is time to go back to the drawing board or grow outdoors.... My opinion though....

Your opinion is my opinion sir! Unless you are doing it for experimental reasons I see no point in using an LED or CFL. I have never had bad results using CFLs but like you said there is a difference in density at the end. Quality wise.. No difference at all.

The first 2 I started flowering stretched about 14 inches so far 13 days into flower now. Top them b4 flowering and tie them up with a net/screen. I try to grow some resilient bitches. Also I'm going to attempt to reveg my 2 fav phenos after harvest and put them outside in the spring. Just as a little project. I have another flouro I can turn on in the veg room.
sorry if I offended you, tbh i got sick of reading the nonsense in this thread...scrolled to the end and posted. do you flower with flouros? I dont think so not to diss flouros but its just easier and they grow better with the HPS for flowering.

Thanks for apologizing. Yes I intend to flower with my fluoros. I am doing an experiment, if you will. The purpose is to ultimately find a way to combine the PAR efficiency of LEDs without the LED price tag. I am using specialized aquarium bulbs that are mimicking most of the wavelengths found with LED. I really believe that fluoros are overlooked and underestimated. Especially if it's more affordable in the initial investment as well as a low operating cost. Basically I am trying to find the most efficient cost effective means of growing. It would've been easier if I went with a 600 watt hps but I really am working with limited resources; so that causes me to have to think outside the box. I will admit I am learning a lot about what makes HID different from fluoros. I can also see why growers who know tend to opt for t5s as a veg lamp. you should check out LED without LEDs. It's the thread that I am using as the basis for my experiment.

Yaya i've been all up in that thread and will be investing in some diff spectrum t5's for veg once I have the funds. and then who knows could start flowering with them as well first two weeks or something red/blue specturm 650mn 680nm and some 420nm ?

First hps sent light goes a lot farther without dropping lumin output.
Cfl have to be a lot closer to maintain the light output.
Another thing is
light specs are used to increase the stage it.is in 3000k minus for flower 5000k plus veg.
The spectrum.and light botb play a roll in thc/growth.
HID you will get more/better yield cause the plant can take in more light in dif spots
T5 alow a lot of light get into the inside of the plant.
CFL need to be moved closer to get inside the plant.
IMO hps.for flower t5 for veg with CFL for.both phases to increase light.
Now this is my understanding from my reading I def can be wrong.
