So my grow room is built and I'll be using a 600w HPS for flowering 12 plants but before they go into flowering they will be cloned besides my clone dome I wanted to put them under T5 lighting probably a 4' 4 bulb for veg for 5-8 weeks @ 20,000 lumens. Do you think it'll be good enough for 12 plants to grow strong? I've done the research and everything says it will but I wanted to know from farmers who have used the same thx!!

t5s dont put off no heat man and the air still gets stale....you need ventilation just not as much as with an HID. how big is your veg box?

T-5 4/4 won't be enough to veg for 5/6 wks but will work well until clone roots take. Maybe 2/3 wks and you will be running out of room. I have 12 under T-5 4/4 but they are small, once I move to a bigger pot they won't fit under that light.

Thx I know I still need to vent co2 etc. My question is,is 12 hours venting enough and you don't think 20,000 lumens is enough to veg 12 plants in a 2 x 4 area? All of them will fit under perfectly under the ballast since the 4'. 4 bulb is 2 x 4 hmmmm any one else have you tried @ the same? Remember I'll be flower under 600w HPS which is more than enough light to finish the job I just want to know about vegging. Maybe you can show some pix of your plants under same set up? Thx

that is NOT TRUE! they do create heat~! maybe not as much as HID's but they do....My T-5 keeps my grow room at 85 Degrees with no air......77 with a fan.

they do create heat, BUT i agree it will not be enough for that many plants for that amount of time.

Peace

Nice and I'm sorry I'm getting 2 4 bulb or 1 4 foot 8 bulb T5 for a total of 40,000 lumens I posted wrong so that's what I want to veg under. Sorry can we start over!! Thx LOL

8 x 54 = really happy plants
4 x 54 = happy plants

They make plenty of heat, as watts are watts for the most part. They just feel cooler to the touch as their heat is spread over more surface area than a single HID. Ventilation will be needed and must be adequate. Somewhere between 200-400 cfm in 2x4x6 area if intake air is 70-75•F.

The real problem is that at 5-8 weeks, your plants will probably be too tall for this lamp to reach the lower part of the canopy. Consider using t5 strip lights as supplements.

I have a little over seventeen thousand lumens in my closet grow. Two, four foot, two tube fluorescents and four cfl's. My golfing partner is using a t5ho with twenty thousand lumens. His grow is a week ahead of mine. My plants just turned a week old and I'm hoping the t5ho light I ordered comes in today because his plants at two weeks old are amazing. He is using a four tube four foot fixture. I researched the lights and a t5ho puts out more lumens than a metal halide 400w. I have eighteen plants in a space that is only fourteen inches wide. My light schedule is 12/12 right from the start. I'm trying to cut down on the veg state and basically have one main cola on each plant. I plan on keeping the four cfl's for extra light during flowering, however the t5 alone seems to be working fine for him. Hope that helps.
