Hey guy,
i know iv posted b4 but iv started a new, i still have my 1000 watt hood but have gone threw 2 harvests now but desided to start alittle veg room.
i got a 2 foot 8 tube 192 watt T5 for 189$ at my closest HydroSpot in Michigan.
with panda paper & a wood table which i plan to be cutting holes into to hold the cups but rightn ow i seem to have alot of work so i'm alittle behind.
i have around 24 plants in some white form cups and i'm around 5 days in.
i have the only fan i got lol blowing on them i also have a 5 gal bucket with a air pump flowing 24/7 with a ph level of around 6.0-6.5 & im useing fox farm big bloom right now.I started with the only soil i have alittle organic MG and cheap top soil. ill be buying some SmartPots soon around 5 gals i think and transplant to them in time.

i was wonderign if anyone had any ideas or any help they can give my first veg under T5s ill post pics some time soon after work thx.

T5's work great man. Just keep them about 2-3 inches away from the top of the canopy. You will definitely need to have fans blowing on the t5 panel so you can keep them this close or else you will heat stress the hell out of them. Good luck man

I have a 4x2 T5 and I can fit 8 5gal plants under there. Veg in 1 Gal under the t5 and you will be able to fit 24.
sounds like a good idea what time u think i should move them from the cups? just to ask since i know its kindia just like using any other light but im so used to just useing hps i want to make sure i do this right lol

Totally dude. I use something that looks like that, but with compacted flouros. just make sure you have the right lighting at the right time of the light spectrum,

hey i had a qestion using the t5 i have in veg how long do u think is best for the cycle like 3 1/2 weeks then go to a hps or what just asking.

I always veg with a T5 and always flower with a 1000W HPS way cheaper to run a T5 for 18/6 to veg as opposed to running a 1000W MH for 18/6

Try and wait until your plant is fully mature usually when you see alternating nodes or around 4 weeks. The longer you veg the bigger your plants will be.

yup. this is correct. You can flower with t5's too, but they work a little bit slower than hps, and even the new led's. If you want rediculous node spacing, and a very vegetative plant, veg with led's as your main light, nothing will beat or compete. Then flowering with an hps would be ultimate. Or you could t5 is with 2700k bulbs for sure..

i was planning on using this grow light http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Ft-48W-Fluorescent-4x-6400K-3000K-Grow-Bloom-Mixed-Lamp-Light-Four-T5-HO-Bulbs-/180743228175?_trksid=p4340.m185&_trkparms=algo=SIC.NPJS&its=I&itu=UA&otn=5&pmod=160671530211&ps=63&clkid=3802960472826238558 and a small grow tent for a small project goal is not to raise the electric with hps and just stick with the t5s is it possible to grow ?

You can totally flower with a t5 and get better results than a 1k. Just use aquarium coral bulbs. A little more expensive than the crap bulbs from the hydro shop. HID bulbs have a horrible spectrum and little to no PAR. HID's they have 10% of usable light. Lumens by definition is visible light and plants absorb 5% to 10% of visible light. Plants mostly absorb uv light and infrared light, which hid's don't produce. So hid's are 10% PAR and my t5 set up is around 9()% PAR. Much closer to the sun. which is or near 100% PAR.

What you want is more PAR. PAR is Photsynthetically Available Radiation or Photosynthetically Active Radiation. Photon flux density (photons per second per square meter) within the visible wavelength range (usually 400 to 700 nm). It indicates the total energy available to plants for photosynthesis .

You can produce a much fuller spectrum and higher PAR with a t5 and you can control the spectrum. HID companies recently started making bulbs with better spectrum but they are not there yet.

Have you ever noticed that some people can do the best outdoor but their indoor is horrible. Sun has better light

Check my journal. Im doing a side by side comparison between the 1k and a t5 and the t5 is winning.
