Take a look at my cloning set-up

I was wondering what you more experienced people think about my cloning bucket. I have about 3 gallons of water ph 6.0 and general hydroponics rapid start rooting enhancer in there. I put it in a box I had built awhile ago for a single plant grow and mounted one small CFL on the top. I was thinking the box would keep the humidity up? Still unsure about what the humidity will be because the meter in the pics was just put in 5 mins prior to taking them.

Looks good man. I made one out of a Rubbermaid tub and I love it. Started with the 5 gallon bucket and a fish tank bubbler. Worked good. Just needed something bigger so I could take more clones at a time.

Thanks, Ive tried cloning for a month now using several different methods with no success. I had trouble keeping the rock wool cubes warm enough. My friend let me use his bucket and he had about 75% success with it. It has a small pump with 1/2" pvc piping out of the top with small red sprayers screwed into the pvc. Is the temp and humidity ok for them? I really wish I had a dome for the bucket but I've seen others that clone with no dome.

Here is the inside.. real creative! Water temp is at 76 degrees..

Temp and humdity are good. No need for a dome with the clone buckets I've noticed. Hell I rarely even mist them. My new tub has the PVC and sprayer set up as well. All diy. I love diy projects. Not gonna buy it if I can make it.

My friend has one he uses now made out of a tub he bought from a hydro store. It's just like a rubbermaid but bigger with a flat cover with flat spots to cut for whatever size baskets you want to use. Its pretty sick! I love diy projects myself, almost everything I use I made. For veg I use a reflector I made out of white aluminum coil stock with 800 watts of 5000k CFLs! lol Then switch to 400w or 600w MH and HPS for flower.

LIke everyone has allready said, no nutes, no dome, no pH is necessary with clones. I just cut, dip in hormone jel, and place in cloner; takes 10 days for enough roots form then move rooted clone into veg room.

Here is my home made aero cloner.

Here is a clone that is ready for vegging

And here is that clone just under 2 weeks of vegging.

Looks good!! Aero cloner for me has been by far the best at cloning!! The only thing I would add is that I never clip the leaves!! For the last 2 years I have cloned 23 plants every 2 weeks and only 2-3 have not made it! Keep up the good work!

that is one thing old dude and i do different, i do cut my leaves. for being in veg for 2 weeks they look small, but depends on your final size desire i guess.

If you don't have pictures to post keep your mouth shut SS!! (private joke between SS and myself;)) SS knows his shit when it comes to Aero, he has taught me a lot!!

I made myself an Aero cloner and I love it to pieces! Best thing for cloning ever. So easy. I do clip my leaves, but no dome..no misting...no food.

Thanks for all the replies guys! I feel a lot better about having success cloning now. So with the bucket what is the most important factor to keep right? I'm thinking the temperature of the water?

i have never worried about cloner temp. they like it warmer anyway. veg and flower is when to worry about res temp because then you have roots to rot.

I guess that is the other thing we do different. It was suggested by another grower to keep the temps around 78 in the cloner!! I already had a heat mat and controller so I tried it. It does seem to help them root a little faster for me. Don't go out and get the heat mat, if what you are doing is not broke don't fix it!

As you can see thirdgen4me, there are a million ways to clone! I am very fortunate to have a lot of room, so when I started aero, I built two extra cloners over time to do my experiments with. If you have the money, make a new cloner to experiment with and you know you will have success with the one you are using now, figure out what works best for you and go with it! Your ultimate goal on everything is KISS!! Keep It Simple Stupid, thats why I don't clip the leaves, it works for me and it is less work:)

I have a similar bucket cloner and had some issues with root rot on my first batch of clones. The stems got really swelled and turned brown/slimey. It was really hot in Mich(90+ degrees)for a week strait. I guessing that we grew some gnarly bacteria in the 80+ res temps. So the second try we put it in a large pan, filled it with water and put frozen water bottles in it to keep it under 70. SO far so good since we can mess with the temp with out opening the cloner a million times a day.
