What should I do when I'm not done with it? The guy at the hydro store said something about something being moist, I can't quite remember.... He was really baked and so was I hahaha

Any help is much appreciated ;)

You should be able to get it at the hydro store. I'm surprised the guy didn't try to sell you some. If you have 7.0 calibration solution on hand, it can be used as a acceptable substitute.

....the hydro store sells the storage fluid.
I've gave up trying to keep pH meters on point. I bought that liquid ph test kit that general hydroponics makes....and it kicks the shit out of any ph meter I've found. I was using this liquid pH kit to double check my pH after I'd use one of my electronic meters, just to reassure myself. Low and behold, I found myself relying more on the liquid ph kit because it doesn't need calibrated. Now , that's all I use is my liquid test kit. It's the only bullet proof way to know your pH is on point, unless your color blind. You might want to get one of these kits, you never know when your electronic pH meter will be out of wack.

Like I said man he was baked as fuck :P

But doesn't distilled water have a pH of 7?

I won't be able to go to the hydro store for a few days, how much will I be paying for the solution, and what should I be doing as a temporary fix?

I paid maybe $6 for a bottle of solution. Distilled water is better than nothing. Not sure why you can't use it but as long as it keeps the electrodes wet, it should work temporarily.

I just got off the phone with the guy at the hydro store, he said that they only have a bottle of 500mL for something like $18... I asked him if they had anything cheaper, he said no, so I asked him if there are alternatives. He said you can just cut a little square off a sponge, keep it moist, and keep that in the cap... He said, "that's what we do..."

He said they even use tap? If I were to do that I'd use distilled, but would THAT work? Seems logical, keeping it moist but not saturated with nothing that has impurities, right?

Yeah, you could do that I suppose. I am really curious as to why the manufacturer strongly recommends against distilled water for storage purposes.

I'm assuming so that you buy their product...

But maybe I just come to expect things like that with products in America...
