Taking it past base nutrients

If you go with GH 3-part; I will help you all the way. Up until last year, I had a sticky at Cannabisdot, and it had over 40,000 views. You can grow mega plants with nothing more than 3-part.

You can manipulate the mix from 1-1-1 to 1-1-3, and beyond. Would love to teach you. :D
yes I would love your help and if you are serious I will surely make the switch and buy a gallon of each today:hump:. I invested a good chunk of money on equipment and supplies. I would love to make it work to its full potential!:weed:

Oh yeah... I forgot; You do need Calmag+, or an equivalent additive.

I make my own.
I have been reading about that but have not seen any deficiencies from not using it but maybe AN has it incorporated so yes if I make the switch which I am then please let me know what else to buy. If I can get it from the same place , I will. I also ordered the liquid karma yesterday. I forget who told me about it but I like the reviews I have read. It seems pretty versatile and can be used through out the grow. When you are available shoot me a PM and let talk! I will be by my computer.

http://www.botanicare.com/Hydroguard-P194.aspx

Hydroguard is to be used IN PLACE OF h202, SM-90, Dutchmaster Zone. The h202 will kill the beneficial bacillus thats in the hydroguard. It is not a "nutrient" but Ive never seen better root growth on my plants.

http://www.amazon.com/Botanicare-BCCMGAL-CAL-MAG-Plus-Quart/dp/B000J2CUPW

Cal-Mag is
  • Highly beneficial calcium, magnesium, iron and trace mineral plant nutrient supplement
  • Helps with calcium, magnesium and iron deficiencies in nutrient fertilizer programs

I provide the links above, even though everyone can google, just for further information/descriptions.

stuff can be very confusing because I was reading that H202 kills all bacteria good and bad. Not sure why you would want to kill the good stuff. It sounds counter intuitive to lets say voodoo juice which boosts the beneficial bacteria. then something like bud candy or just black strap molasses is used to feed those beneficial bacteria. I suppose its just another route you can go to improve the root zone being it get rid of all bacteria or use the good stuff to your advantage. with so many techniques it can be a lot to take in.

Honestly it is easier to run sterile/h202 hydro systems. Earthworm Compost Teas and microbes (Great White Shark, Orca, ZHO, Hydroguard, etc.) work better and have a better finish product IMO.

hey quick question I am orderin 1 gallon of each GH MGB I already ordered a quart of liquid karma and not sure if a quart of cal mag is enough or should I get a gallon. I dont know how much is used. My resivor hold roughly 22 gallons and I do a res change every 2-3 weeks depending on where Im at in the grow and if the plants look like they can use it. WTF I cant spell resivor, lol Spell check wants to change to resistor. i must be way off on the spelling . I know others do res changes more often but it gets expensive! Maybe since i am switching to GH it wont be so bad. one more thing. Can I use the left over AN MGB for say foliage spraying or something. I have 2/3 of each left and just paid 46.00 bux for it last week. I dont want to waste it. I hope I hear from latewood so I can order the cal mag and GH MGB today unless you can answer my question about weather to get a quart or gallon for running 2, 22 gallon res. I can have it by tuesday if I order today.

so there is two methods for the root zone? Ok well I didn't go the route of vodoo juice yet and wont if there is a better way for sure. Can those be used in conjunction with liquid karma. I would like to take an easier and safer route if the end results are about the same. Are you saying that Great White Shark, Orca, ZHO, Hydroguard, etc are types of earthworm compost teas and microbes?

YEA! Its basically sterile vs microbes is what it boils down too. Some products have only bacteria (Hydroguard), some (Great White Shark) have MANY species of bacillus and fungi. You can read the back of the bottles to find out whats in them. Don't be overwelmed if you dont know any species on the back of the bottle/package. I read the bottle to make sure I'm not mixing the same bacteria from say my Hydroguard and than adding another source of the same microbes.

For clarification I do not use my Great White Shark (powder form) in my hydro setups. I have not tried it but people say Orca is the liquid version of it?

As for the Cal-Mag, with a 22g reservoir and a change every week or two than Id go with the litre. A gallon is a lot of nutrient and I generally play it safe and buy smaller bottles. I could end up not liking it, it could be a "bad" batch (this shit happens, it really does.), or it could just sit there forever and go "bad/stale".

reservoir is spelt similarly to reservation. If that helps you to remember? =P

Why not stay with your nutes till you are done with them atleast get your money worth. Thats what I am doing. Than I switch nutes every grow or every other grow to see if something out there works easier/better.

thanks for summing things up. Everyone is so helpful on here. I dint know nutes go stale, good to know when making your order! I suppose you dont know how long it was sitting on the shelf for either. Good point! I wasn't going to stay with those nutes because latewood is going to walk me through using the GH and teach me how to give different ratios at different parts of grow which is supposed to be one of the benefits of a 3 part. With AN I ave just done a 1-1-1 with not the best results but I'm sure there were other factors as well. The first time i grew was my most successful nutrient wise but I didn't have the 600 watt lights that i do now. Looked great and was potent but very loose buds. could have been much better. I only had a 5 gallon bucket reservoir ;-) it was much cheaper nute wise. by the time i was done I had a root mass that took up 2 gallons of space. it was unbelievable! i could only fit say 2 gallons of water in the bucket at the end and would be just about empty at the end of the day. This thing was sucking up over a gallon of water in a day. It was a pain in the ass growing in one bucket!

I can see the appeal behind having guidance from someone who knows what they are talking about however at some point you'll need to read your plant (so to speak) and figure out whats going on or atleast a general idea. You can follow a formula that works, and I am sure it does, but once you run into problems is where the formula is almost completely useless. Cannabis growers need to know how to problem solve as well.

I think I can read the plant pretty well for some things. The way I tell if I am at the right ppm is by looking at the lower leaves and the tips. if the lower leaves start turning yellow I know i am low on nutes because of nitrogen. I then will add more if they are yellow and wait for them to start to turn green again. if I start giving too much the tips will show signs of burn. Now this is only at a 1-1-1 ratio so if say it were magnesium or something else than I may need to bump up the part that has that nute in it especially if my ppm is in check. Now this is just what i do and have formed this method on my own. It has worked so far. I feel like I am on the right track which is another reason why I want to start adding nutes. I have always thought about GH because of the price and just stuck with AN because I liked the ph perfect feature. I am also growing tomatoes in DWC and use RO water with regular MG and the ph stays stable @ 5.8. It seems if you use RO water the nutes that are specifically made for what we grow seems to keep in the correct range without much effort. My MG in the tomatoes stays at a more stable PH than the AN 3 part.

Liquid Karma is a beautiful product. I Feed my seedlings with it. I have been using it since 2005.

DO NOT use swimming filter DE...I know you already know that. I but it in 50 lb. bags, but here is some options

Hope I don't get in trouble for helping you out with this link...

DE Food Grade is edible. You can digest it, feed it to your Dogs, and Cats. Cattle, etc...

It is full of minerals, and is commonly used as a food filler.
