Taking the plunge, first grow op...

Hey Guys,
Been lurking and reading everything I can to make my first grow successful. Please let me know if I missed anything or something can be done better.

Grow Room Dimensions 4'6" x 5'4" x 6'

I had water damage in the basement a few months back and gutted the Sheetrock down to the concrete foundation. The room I want to grow in was safe from the water damage. The problem I have is there is mold on the wall of the outside room. maybe 2' x 2' area. So it is in the air. What do you guys suggest I use to sterilize the area? I was going to go over it with mold cleaner/detractor i bought at home depot, any better options?

I wanted to do both Veg and Flowering in this room.


I am thinking of doing a DIY 3' x 3' enclosure lined with 2 mil mylar. I currently only have a 400w MH light, considering buying an HPS either a 400w Apollo or Ipower.
For a first grow could i get away with the MH for both veg and Flower and maybe add 4-6 3k 45w CFL's?

Going to try a bag or 2 of Exhale CO2 on a shelf about 2-3 feet off the floor

I was thinking of going with 4 DWC 5 gallon buckets with 6" netpots

I got a 10 pack of Nirvana Ice and Bubbilicious, was going to try to crack 2 of each to get this started.

Air filtration I will be making a DIY carbon filter and exhaust, my present temps in that room are roughly 75f and 70% RH without the MH light on. I do have a mini split in the main room of the closet. In a month or so the temps will drop a bit lower and heat will be a none issue.

Do you guys think i should expand the main tent more than 3' x 3' for 4 buckets? i was going to build a shelf so that i can take clones prior to flowering if I'm lucky enough to find fems in the flowering stages. I cheaped out and got regular seeds, in hindsight shoulda payed the xtra money for fems, live and learn..

I think 4x4 would be better unless you only plan on vegging a short time. You will get some big plants with DWC. I could fill a 3x3 area with one DWC plant very easily. A one month Veg before flower could fill a 3x3 tent by harvest.

well since i got regular seeds, i figured i would get 1-2 fems hopefully. So was essentially going to throw them into flowering after 2 weeks or so. i would like to get around 11-14 ounces out of the final harvest. Think it's doable?

The thing is if I did a 4 x 4 i would have a little over a foot of dead space on either side since i won't be able to get in there. I will start with 4 buckets and hopefully get at least 2 fems. If i get 3 i will just keep one of each strain.

Is it realistic to try to get 10-12 ounces out of 2 plants? I have seen some guys grow 8-12 ounces on ice with similar conditions to mine.

Come on now guys, Any other comments? I think i will break the room into a 2'6" x 4' enclosure. Then i will put in a 1' x 2' shelves for clones (flouro grow light).

Back to my previous question, how much do you guys think i will lose out on by using a 400w MH bulb for flowering?

yeah easily get 14 oz offa two plants that have good genetics, and had a good month of fast veg growth, and proper training, feeding etc etc in other words a good grow, try to use a 400 hps for veg and flower instead of MH for flower and veg, its much worse to flower with a MH than to veg with a HPS, all the hps means is like an extra week in veg
