Hello,

RIU I would like to start by saying I have been on here now for about 2 months now. However, I would like to thank any, and everyone who has posted a few tips or guides for new growers on here .

I purchased the Closetmaid cab from target for under 40 bucks. As we all know the back board is crappy so I took the cheap paper back to home depot, and had them cut a plywood to its size the used a 3 1/2 in holesaw to cut the hole for the fan.

Lighting: I purchased a mini 150w hps with the ballast attached on ebay for 80 bucks shipped from Htg. I am unable to keep it cool in the cab temp were reaching as high as 95 degrees.. However, I then purchased some cfl, and I went ahead, and bought a lighting fixture from home depot on sale for 9.99. Also I purchased some 23w 6500k 100 watt and 23w 2700k 100 watt 4 in a box for 8.99.

Fans: I bought some on ebay a 90mm 130cfm 56 dba fans for 12.99 each, and let me tell you they couldn't even keep the cab cool, and I had 2 exhaust at the top at 260 cfm total. The exhaust are basically where the 150w is basically hanging to remove all the heat in and its still a no go. My passive intake and a intake fan as well as a pc fan for circulation. Im waiting on my 4" desk fan to arrive in a few days with it being winter no local stores are currently carring fan only heaters

. The fans are loud as shit I made a diy light trap, and bought one of those sound/block out light curtains from walmart. The curtain helped the noise level but still sound like a humming bathroom fan running, and works well for a complete light seal with no light trap on fans for more room to breath. I just layed the curtain over the cab and ka-boom I have light trap for the entire cab.

Grow medium: Rockwool, and Hydroton in a diy dwc storage container from walmart and 3" net pot with a fish tank pump and black air hose to prevent having algae in the container while its doing what it do.

Question do I have to keep the top hydroton wet as well because the ones on the bottom/middle and the rockwool are wet the rockwool doest look dry it moist. However, just the top and some around it are looking dry. If so how do I keep it wet because, I know I cant pour more water in my res I can over water them.

Okay, I then went, and purchased some 120mm fan 74cfm 18 dba and they are quiet as hell cant even tell if the cab is the room at all. However, I want to run the hps instead of the cfl, or to be able to run 1 cfl and the 150w hps as well any advice will be helpful.

Anyways, I will get to the point I have been trying to get this cabinet on point the temps are just unable to meet the required temps to complete this adventure. Now I know its winter time and the temp of my house is around 78-80 degrees, and with my new setup with 120mm fan and the 1 intake, and 1 passive intake I am able to keep the temps 84 degrees, however; at the moment the ac thermostat is reading 83 degrees for the entire house. I know for sure I will need at least 6 cfl in there to have a decent grow after reading 3 books and surfing the web for numerous hours.

Now in to the good stuff I germinated 1 seed, and then just went ahead and just added another seed in the net pot without germinating to see what will happen and it sprouted. I did purchase a ph meter and a tds meter. Oh I didnt buy a RO system but managed to purchase a pur water filter, and let water sit for 24hrs before using it. My ph come out the pur water filter at 7.5 ph and then I added the ph down to get between 5.8 as needed for hydro grow and the ppm is reading 250.

Nutes: GH Micro/Bloom and planning to use the Lucas formula.
any trick suggestion to add in mutes to get a better grow?

I am on day 3 since I have plotted them in the pots. Wish me me luck this its my first grow. I also added a pic with my final construction.

All idea advice comments are welcome!!!!
