lets say i plant i early june, will my plants end by october?
and does planting later only mean shorter plants?

It depends on where you live really. In the deep south where temps will stay above 50 into December, if you started late they will continue past October. Most of those guidelines are AVERAGED.

well i live in the lower northeast. and in october the weather is usually in the high 40s to high 60s.

Planting later = shorter plants unless they are a quick finish strain (to the best of my knowledge)

No, affects width too. Plant late and it´s gonna think summers about to end (cause of shorter days) and then maryjane focuses all of it´s energy on producing buds and basically stops stretching..
If you plant now it´s not gonna be a problem but I have a feeling it´s too soon,
if you live in a cold country plant when plant when days get warmer (for both warm/cold climates, springtime).
I read that the best time is around may.

check you rsunlight availabilty at this site...it will tell you when to plant. You can germ about 10 days or so ahead of 12/12.
