Temporary switch to soil...

Hey guys... Due to reasons that don't need explaining, I'm temporarily switching from hydroponics to soil for my next grow. Now I've always heard that with soil things simply take longer. I've been trying to figure out what this means. I mean is it that the plant takes longer to mature in vegetation? There wouldn't be anything really different in flowering times will there? They've taken bit longer to grow than they used to in hydro (same genetics), so I vegged them longer. How will this play out in flowering? All advice is appreciated... Thanks everyone.

In hydroponics you get faster growth and bigger yields.Flowering periods are still the same.

My experience is they do finish slower too, and yield less. When they say 45-55 days flower period for your seeds you can bet you won't get 45 days in soil more like 55 plus days to actually finish. Just slower and less efficient all around but oh well, still works.

If you use crappy soil though you'll get really crappy growth. Go with FFOF or something good like that so you aren't really dissapointed in how soil does.

Damn Oregon rippin on us soil growers :) but yea soil does make the plants much smaller than hydro. When I first read this thread I thought you were going to say you were taking a hydro plant and puting it in soil. That would be some cool shit.

I'm growing with only soil right now so I'm not ripping on it at all I just am hating how long it took to get my trees as big as they are now. With hydro it would have been half the time to get them to 7' tall but in dirt it's taken since mid febuary to veg them into trees.

I'm working on going hydro but I ran out of money so had to stay with soil for a while.

Each has it's benefits and drawbacks, just depends on your goals and what style you like.
