Tent heaters

you could hook it up to a temp controller too. mine has a wired remote sensor and 2 outlets for cool or heat. and then you adjust the turn on temps, C or F, etc. i think it's an inkbird? i'd have to look.
Radiant heaters aren't really designed to cycle on and off repeatedly, so an additional temp controller wouldn't do anything extra special.

The stock thermostat should be fine. Suppose you could mod it and relocate the sensor if you wanted, but the fans your talking about would circulate air through it anyway right?.

Mine has like 3 settings, and I usually keep it on the lowest (600w?).

You can stuff it in the tent but there isn't a point in that either, especially if your venting directly into the room. It wouldn't matter where it is in the room, next to the tent or whatever. It will heat everything the same.

If venting completely out of the tent and room, the fan will just suck the heat right off the heater, and waste all the heat (unless you have a heat recovery ventilator)

I've had my eye on the cheaper on demand electric radiant flooring kits lately.. Small sections too, perfect for tents. Made to be covered in thin set and tiles. I would use my own temp controller, and make a 4.5' x 4.5' heated panel with elegant looking tiles (and added side wall splashes) to set in my tent floor. Best heating system I can think of really...

That, or use a coil of pex tubing and coolant instead to make the radiant floor heat panel, and a $100+ portable on demand propane water heater to heat it with. A closed loop system with its own pump, which is what signals it to turn on with pressure. Hook temp control to pump, easy peasy. At the same time, you seal the room off, and you get your c02 from the same units exhaust! Sounds like a win but I haven't attempted it yet, lol..

I would also toss an aquarium heater in the res, preferably a shatter proof one. I always have too in the cold months. Digital temp controllers work great with them to keep your res temp dialed in. You don't have to worry about the canopy\ambient air temps so much when you heat the res at night. Bonus if you want to bring out fall colors during the cold season. ;)
half the point of what I was getting at is to not directly heat up the nutrient solution… I’ve been approaching 75 and want to keep that from going any higher. Radiant floor would more than likely be great for a soil grow but for hydro I don’t see why you would want this unless you have really cold conditions and either way from my understanding you want room and solution temps to be quite different from one another. As for the thermostat being more central- my thought is that with the two PC fans blowing constantly (drawing cooler air from the floor and vent in side of tent) that it will take away the effectiveness of an internal thermostat and would more than likely just run continuously causing more heat than I want plus more electric costs

I grow in a unheated shed in canada in the winter. When lights go out, temps can get low. I use a inkbird it308 for temp control and a honeywell personal buddy 200w on low, 350 on high (tape over red light). Amazon has a 500w (amazon basics) i have the 500w in case the honeywell goes bad. It has been rock solid for 5 years.

My space is 5ftx3.5ftx7ft the ceramic coils do not glow at night, so no disruption during lights out.

I'm lucky it doesn't get really cold where I am. Very cold here would be 5c at night. I just use a 80w tube heater and it keeps things in the mid 20s with the lights on and in the mid teens with the lights out. I do have a 500w oil filled rad, just in case, but don't really have to use it. I seem to get way with it.

I see. Doesn't make sense to me that your wanting to heat a tent that already has almost 75 degree nutrient solution though. .. If it was getting that warm to begin with, then how would you be needing a heater in the first place? Your pushing root rot territory and talking about adding heaters at the same time it seems like. I'm probably just assuming your space is as cold as my mine gets though.
What kind of swings are you dealing with, and
Whats the lowest temp you recorded?

Is your control/res in the tent too?

Radiant floor panel wouldn't heat the containers much more (possibly less) than any other heat source, especially if you put a layer of foam between them. I use sections of yoga mat to insulate from the cold (soon to be radiant) floor in my room.

These smaller 400w only oil radiant panel heaters look decent for a 5x5. 1649472943759.png1649472958484.png

That is a neat little heater. Where did you find it?

Nevermind. Zoomed in and saw the brand. Found it at home depot. Thanks. haven't seen a small one like that

Wanna play I spy? Lol jk
I have one of those. Going on 2nd year with it.

I have it hooked up to a thermostat to keep temps at the root zone around 74F in veg. I disconnect it in flower so the plants can show their colors.4DFA7D71-A690-45F0-B22B-E4D4FC465921.jpeg

Funny that you came up with this as a heater because I was considering this one in particular and made the purchase prior to this post. My solution ended up being something I haven’t seen anywhere ( really surprised that I haven’t). Since this my res temps have been in check and my grow space has been set at 78 (lower in the picture due to me having the tent open to take said pictures ). Only current thing that I’m worried about is the lack of the little feeder roots on one plant that have touched into the nutrient solution. Worried that my previous high res temps may have introduced some bacterial growth (could be just overthinking ). I’m doing a complete res change out tomorrow and have read up quite a bit on using bleach at a .5 ppm which equates to about 1.2 ml for my just under 50 gallon system. So additionally if you have any thoughts towards this feel free to let ‘em flow…
