Tentin' up

Whats up RIU, just got a 5x5 tent to put in one of the guest bedrooms so I can manage the environment better than my 7x 9 foot room I have down in my shop, it just gets too cold this time of year when the lites go off and I'm too cheap to run a heater,I'm gonna be running 500 watts of DIY cobs.will exhaust it with 315 cfm fan into the attic but not sure if the intake should be passive or should I put some kind of fan at the inlet at the bottom of the tent,the bedroom stays at 70 to 75 degrees this time of year so this is gonna be sweet,also I have another 300 watts of cobs so should I make it 800 or is 500 enough for that size,all tips or suggestions appreciated

Lol..you cannot vent into the attic during cold weather. Two fold problem, first you will mold the shit out of your attic, second you will cause a telltale sheet of ice to form on your roof from the moisture...

Using a tent you will be fine venting into the main room and out of the tent most likely, if not, you can vent into another living space or leave the door to that room open. It MAY be possible to vent into your air return but talk to an hvac guy first on that

you can vent into the attic as long as you run enough hose to get it next to one of the vents, but it may blow a cloud of steam out of your attic the entire time your lights are on.
my friend put the shell of a window ac in his growroom window and vents out of that, and no one ever looks at it. of course, they may wonder why you're running the ac in the winter

i just vent into my house in cold weather, why pump hot air outside, then run the heat to make more hot air?

thanks for replying,never thought about molding up the attic but it makes perfect sense,maybe I'm trying to over think this a bit the room will be quite cool this time of year and probably won't matter if I vent into the room,what do you use to bring air into the tent or is it passive,also I'm wanting to know what the humidity is like for a tent it seems like it could get wet in there?I'm just trying to prepare myself I hate surprises in the middle of a grow but it seems to be the norm with me.Thanks again K

With a heavy exhaust your tent will bring in new air from every possible plane due to the negative pressure.. Keep air moving and stick to watering when they need it and not over doing that and it will feel a slight bit tropical in there but not wet at all. Also if you're mitigating smell add your filter to your exhaust and due to that negative pressure air will only leave the tent through it.

Why not just set up the tent in your shop and insulate it? My room is in my shed and its starting to get cold here too. Im at 5,000ft and its getting into the low 30s right now... colder starting next week. The room is insulated and maintains 72-75 during the day, 59-62 at night and they are loving it. Super dense and starting to see some purples coming in on a few of the girls. I run have to run a heater during lights on with my 315cmh because it barely puts out any heat, but I just set it to 70 and it only kicks on for maybe 10 min or so every few hours to kick the temp back up.

Being that you said "is at 5000ft" in guessing you're in Colorado? I've spent some time there and am pretty sure growing in an outbuilding (shed detached garage) is against the law. So be careful as it is also the easiest of grows to detect.

thanks kermit 2692 that is what I was wanting to know,I'm not gonna use a filter as smell won't be an issue.I had thought about putting the tent in the shop but the enviroment in the house is easier for me to control and more secure.I will be setting up the tent this weekend and redesigning my lite to give me the best coverage,super excited about this grow and am thinking this one will be my best yet my 5th.I am planning on doing a scrog with some seeds from nirvana, wonder woman and super skunk both did real well for me last grow and are very tolerant of me so they will be first and then I can tweak things on the tent as needed to get it dialed in,maybe do grow journal this time but I'm such a spaz it would probably be a what not to do journal,if nothing else I'm sure it will be hilarious.As always thanks for the good advice and info and keep an eye out for my journal it will be a wild ride lol
