I have been advised that it would be better if I changed a few variables ...

New feeding schedule is now:

Feed Feed water ...
every 3 days as the buckets get light.
I got a new hygrometer which will measure the humidity in the soil and I will post results as I test to make sure that we watch for/prevent root rot.

As a baseline the hygrometer is measured on a scale of 1 to 10. 1 represents little to no moisture in the medium were as 10 represent the maximum amount of moisture in the medium.

Note: When I potted them into the buckets from cups, I added 1 liter of water per bucket.

Today's moisture check will be done later for i have to leave soon.

I forgot to mention also that the led fixture is exactly 12 inches away from the canopy, I will check the height and re adjust if needed daily.

My six hundo hps can get eight to ten inches above my girls so is assume you.could go closer..can you lay your hand on the leds and not get burnt...sry never dealt with leds but im deffinitly.sibscribing to watch this...good luck bro oh and never use full strength nutes..ESPECIALY if your gonna go feed feed water...they just dont need it..ive never ever gone above half strength..

Hey stuckonsticky. :) Nice to see you join me bros. :)

I have vented hps's (1000w's) and we take em pretty close to, ten inchs though is pushing it but doable if the strain is from a desert environment. Something like afghani (kush for instance). Closer is definitely better. With LED's though it's not a a question of heat. There is practically no heat that comes from LED's. The reason for the 12 inches away is due to bleaching issues. Because these are the exact spectrum's you can bleach your plants easily. Bleaching is basically were your leaves turn white. Also, these panels have uv light and also ir led's. Too much (especially) IR can be devastating to a cannabis plant.

S/H will be the term we will use in this thread as an acronym for Soil Humidity...

S/H reading for: 09-07-2011 - Average 6.8
S/H reading for:
09-08-2011, 1:11pm- Ave. 5

3 days of blue spectrum, 1 day of purple ... 2 inchs growth on average ...

Lighting fixtures need to be moved up by 2 inches.

Update: Seems my old hygrometers are failing. I tested them just for fun in pure water and got a reading of 3 which is a major false positive so i will need to acquire new hygrometer for sure to get the most accurate reading as possible. I usually go by look and/or weight when working with hps and i weighed them (led's). Looks like they need a major dose of de-chlorinated water. 1 ltr per pot was given.

Alright, week 1 and I'm incredibly stoked about this test. This week as the pictures show we have had a confirmed total vertical growth of 3 1/2 inches in 7 days. That's incredibly encouraging considering that 7 days ago i transplanted these and they have had no food yet!

This first picture illustrates the height of the lighting fixture from the ground. (bottom of the pots). This week our measurement is 26 3/4 inches from the ground.

This picture shows the height of the lighting fixture from the canopy to show the last three days vertical growth (About 1 1/2 inches).

These next pictures show the heat and rh readings. This is nigh time temps daytime temps are 80 degrees f. I really love the lack of heat and how very little the heat fluctuates from nite to day.

This pic is to show you how they look under the purple spectrum's.

I am very happy to report that very little of the lower foliage is dropping which usualy happens under the first week after transplanting them (even with b supplements to reduce stress). A little dropped though something like 3-4 leaves on 24 plants which is expected after the rough week they have had.

This one shows the "Bleaching effect" which was caught early and I moved up the fixtures up (today and last post)

testez-368516-albums-357-magnum-grow-picture1782123t-09122011043.jpg

All and all i'm really happy with the first weeks results. It's not much but at the very least I can say that these lights are vegging way better then my previous cfl vegging system. (200w cfl's x 5).

The first picture illustrates the temp and relative humidity. As we can see the temp is not that cold when running two fixtures

This week we have observed 1 inch growth so the fixtures need to be moved up an inch

This week's pictures with and without the light on

Here is a link for the recipe which we will use in this experiment - simple drain to waste. Because we switched over from Advanced Nutrients to General Hydroponics, we are only starting with half strength and building up to full strength in a week. In one week we flip over to 12/12.
PIC

This picture shows the feeding and watering schedule of the beautiful dank we are creating. I'm almost tempted to do a scrog but for now we will keep it simple for the purpose of this experiment.

PLANT NOTES
:

In the first week they grew two inches, this was due to having only the blue spectrum on. The second week I have gone between the purple and blue spectrum daily and they have only grown 1 inch. However, it is worth noting that there are far more inter-nodes being developed. I would say 4 - 6 per plant on average. That makes me very happy as I foresee many bud sites being being developed, who knows maybe they will all interconnect and form one massive bud....hopefully.

Last but not least, here is measurement of how high the fixture is off the ground.
Oh, I forgot to mention in the very beginning, pots sizes are 10"H by 10"Circumference. That will conclude this week's full report.

Latest grow update:

The foliage is filling out the buckets, they are on average about a foot long and I have between 5 to 9 inter-nodes per plant. This is the majic time for me and I put them into sleep status (24hrs no light). Today they will be starting the full 12/12 flowering schedule at 8pm.

Nutrients will now be used at full strength. Superthrive vitamin complex will be added once on week 2 and will be used regularly between week 3 and 6 of flowering.

This is the official update for week 1 of our flowering period. I have noticed allot of growth this week in allot of ways...

- Grew taller by average 2 inches
- Grew wider in total circumference of canopy
- Stems seem to be doubled in thickness
- Stems seem to be purpler, (more purple)
- More shoots are visible

Here are some pictures of the plants.

Here is a picture of our RH and temp. This reading is different and lower because I was checking night time temps.

The picture below shows the 2 inches of vertical growth.

The picture bellow shows us that we need to move up the lighting fixture(s) 2 inches higher.

I plan on "lollipopping" these plants in the next day or so. I will taking the bottom. This should leave 5 to 10 internodes up top. More pics on this as the job get's done.

This picture shows us the last month of notes. Please notice that I had to water allot more then I thought that I would due to the fact that rh levels were lower then 45%.

1/2 W = not an official water day, but water was given none the less
W with a circle is an official water day
F with a circle indicates a food day
Check marks indicate that it was done

Also noted on the calendar is the sleep/wake schedule and the weeks in flowering
