I am starting to see a few marijuana rec stores up for sale! For 50 million dollars, you can buy a commercial MJ business! I think some owners are tired of the regulations, all the documentation, basically red tape out their asses! They thought it would be different...but when push comes to shove, big corporations will bully out all the quality-minded, small shops and replace them with Wal-Mart owned money-makers.

Some places you can't collect rain water! Pretty soon, you won't be able to grow your own vegetables, either! What's next? Air?...Well, Trump is trying to bring back pollution again, so you never know! But, I digress!

Funny how you say walmart, that's what i call LivWell, they are the walmart of weed, they sell moldy products , huge corporation, multiple locations in different parts of the state, don't give a rats ass about the customer, they even got caught spraying eagle20.....i grow my own food too, or as much as i can, check out this lettuce this is organic , pesticide / fungicide free just like my weed. I also grow peppers and tomatoes indoor and do a big garden outdoors each year. Might try to do potatoes this year outdoors.

It dawned on me awhile back when I was getting medical marijuana at a dispensary...Back then you could at least stick your nose in the jar and smell a little of what was going on....Now, that everything is recreational and in sealed containers, it's really hard to determine what's what. But even back when I had the option to "pre-smell"....I often had to put my face close to the jar....and the bud tenders would shake the jar a bit to release some terpenes....and sometimes I could detect a bit of coffee-like terpenes...maybe some pine...often lemon chemical types of smells....but nothing that I could pick out from across the room! And that IS a big difference between the weed from way back when and the weed from now. Yes, higher THC is the trend of today....and people buy strains based on those test results... but the high THC weed strains do NOT get me higher or even high in the same way as the old skunk which I am fairly certain was around 10% THC.

If I have to stick my face into a jar in order to detect a smell, then the game is over before it begins because the real high -the GOOD kinds of high- is related to the strength of the stinky skunk. The nose knows better than the gas chromatograph when it comes right down to it.

I think a lot of this too, has to do with finishing. Commercial growers aren't growing till their plants are ready, their growing on a schedule. If it's an 80 day strain, that's what their growing it to do have it dried and cured and on the shelf. If it's not quite dry, or not quite cured their selling it anyway to full quota. I live in MA, and unless you've got a medical card, you're buying illegally, (or growing now), and we still get bid that's got that stink from inside 2 Ziploc and a Tupperware from the car. Ext to you type smell. So yeah, THC has something to do with it, but so does harvest and cure and terpines, and all the little things commercial growers give 0 fucks about. I bet if you grew those same strains the right way you'd get the high you're after. Oh, and I will say, different buds have given me different effects, couchlock, energetic, almost psychotropic.

Well you're gonna have to forgive me for having high expectations of these new companies competing for our dollars. I'm a shrewd consumer in other areas of life and work, so why not MJ??

It is true they gave me a solid reason, but only after I spent a week chasing them for any communication whatsoever. I have responsibilities too and I look foolish when waiting on firms who can't even pick up the phone. I'm entitled to be dissatisfied.

I'll admit budgenius are copping it for a lot of my general frustration here; kinda getting fed up of many, many stoner-bro outfits with a hip logo posing as solid operations but lacking in some business basics.

Folks need to be getting their shit together, like the many more trying to drag this industry into the legit mainstream. If you're gonna mess customers around then expect to be called out on it.

I paid the $20, no big deal, but its the last dollar they will see of mine.

I like this idea. The labs are actually legally prohibited from testing any Cannabis that DOESN'T come from a commercial facility so this would be a great option for me and my network of fellow medical growers.

Well, actually for gas chromatography mass-spec you need to dry the sample completely anyway, it doesn't skew the results because all samples are prepared identically. On the other hand For HPLC-MS the samples will be suspended in solution.
You can argue about the accuracy of the tests, or the quality of the samples the growers test, but there is no sample drying conspiracy.

A very interesting device, I read the white paper and even though I'm skeptical it wasn't complete nonsense, I give the benefit of the doubt.
I would like to read their patent application, see an independent comparison to GCMS, and hear experiences of several independent growers before purchasing.

IF this device can do what they claim it can, I would not consider just purchasing, I would even consider investing in the company.

Remember the Theranos story?

I know that a similar device used for cancer testing from breath (you breathe into a tube and the machine can analyze the molecules and find cancer biomarkers) just recently got FDA-approved, so the technology exists.
Whether or not it can fit into such a small form factor, and sell for $800, that remains to be seen :)

Requiring a completely dried sample to test is just another reason why testing is flawed and inaccurate. The reality is that people who use marijuana don't use completely dried-out flowers. Testing bone-dry samples is a sure way to diminish (or negate) any of the volatile terpenes...which are a HUGE part of getting a satisfying effect from using marijuana. I find dried out buds all the time in rec stores. Maybe the dryness has less to do with testing and more to do with guarding against any mold growing in the sealed packaging...?

The question is always what are we measuring and to what end.
Relying on tests to tell you which buds are "good" buds, is completely meaningless.
All we can get is a numerical value which represent a certain amount of a given substance in a sample, within a defined margin of error.
This data means very little to a user, but we as people tend to be impressed by numbers, and marketing specialists play the number games with us all the time, with megapixels in cameras, horsepowers in cars, watts in LEDs, and THC in buds, bigger is always better, right? In reality these numbers don't tell much about the quality of the product as a whole.
Still most people buy into it.

The importance of testing should be limited to: general quality control of the growing conditions - for the grower's use, and public health and safety when it comes to pesticides.
It shouldn't be used as a way to tell good bud from bad buds.

This thing seems goes beyond and by pairing up user with specimen under test for various conditions? Would think they could code a lottery algorithm before dialing something like that in. It also said something about only 3 cannabinoids?
