TGA and Sensi hempy's...

Looking good so far! I'll be switching to hempies for my next grow so I am going to keep an eye on yours and see how it goes!

Thanks buddy ! Its my first go at hempy as well and i have no complaints so far. Stick around and the show should get better
 
Sorry for the lack of pictures. I had a busy weekend. I will be posting more on wednesday.
But the plants are taking to the transplant well. The previous issues with the leaves seem go have disappeared. They are currently 41 days old. I gotta say the growth rate is surprising. After the supercropping they have really started to bush out. Especially the agent orange plants !
That being said, the real show is gonna be starting sooner than expected due to space limitations. I still havent seen any indications of sex so i have no idea how many I'll actually have. Im confident there will be at least 6 females though. We shall see. Stay tuned

Great seed selection also, I've only grown TGA's stuff so far but since hempdepot only sells 10 packs I'm only running 1 strain at a time.

Thanks buddy. Each plant was topped once. Then just supercropped as you can see in the pics. The agent orange is by far my favorite as far as growth goes. Its super branchy and they just bush out a lot more.

But ive always ordered from attitude. Only had one problem with customs. But i had gaurenteed shipping so attitude sent me another order for free. You should try them if you wany multiple strains. Or herbies pick n mix. Ive heard good things from them.

Anyways, thanks for the kind words. You better keep your thread updated, i wanna see those ladies blossom!
 
Update: Well the plants keep having growth spurts and they're starting to take up a good amount of room. So Just yesterday I hung up the 600w hps and flipped em all to 12/12.
Feed rates are slightly higher now. I have upped the dose to roughly 1000ppm. So we'll see what does that. I'm thinking I need to start watering slightly heavier. I just mixed up a 4 gallon solution and fed them. But I didn't get much drainage. The buckets are only 2 gallons, so with a little less than a half gallon of nutrient solution/water per bucket, I would imagine there would be some drainage. That is unless the plants are sucking the perlite dry.

Those two thumbnail pictures of the light and duct set up wouldn't post right for some reason. But that's my ghetto rigged duct system. The light hanging diagonal is my 400w MH. I'll be turning that on probably 5 weeks into flower to see if I can't pack on some extra trichs.

Sorry about the pictures. They are kind of "lined". Definitely because of the magnetic ballast I use. At least that's what I've read causes that
 
Your plants look great. I have been considering trying hempy but haven't yet. Heard pest issues are less common with them too. Great strain choices! Subbed...
 
girls lookin great ricky. once you throw em under the 6 theyre going to blow up big! where did you grab those metal ducting elbows? none of my connections are flush and it definitely creates unneeded extra noise lol!!

The piece on the ceiling i got from menards for $5 or so. Not exactly what i was lookin for but it definitely does the trick. It was 95f in there, but now with the exhause hooked up it doesnt go over 86. Still a little warm for not running co2, but i dont see,any signs of heat stress just yet.

Honestly i hadnt even heard of a hempy bucket until a few months ago. I did some research, it sounded simple and effective, so here i am trying it out. So far i cant complain, the plants seem to be healthier and growing much faster than soil. I still think true hydro systems like dwc, rdwc, uc, etc, grow a lot faster. But for such a simple setup , I'm impressed. You should try it
 
Wow plants look fantastic man. Read on the last page that you weren't getting much runoff. I would suggest you water until you get at least 10%. You want to get that perlite pretty saturated because as you can tell they drink it up fast. Maxibloom is cheap so I never scrimped on the runoff. I'd give each plant in 3.5 gallon buckets a gallon every other day in full flower. It gets nuts.

Also you are right about the other active hydro systems growing faster. My winter DWC grows would usually be ahead of my hempys by around 2 weeks. I guess it's the simplicity and my own laziness that moved me to DTW in the first place. I'm stuck on coco DTW and highly doubt i'll ever go back at this point. 10 minutes in my grow room to water and maintain versus maintaining DWC resses is huge for my time short schedule. Plus the plants just look happy in coco. Can't really explain it scientifically, but they just seem to prefer the coco over anything else i've had this strain in. This includes Ocean Forest soil/DWC/Perlite. Guess i'll stick with it!
 
Just a quick update. a handful of the plants are starting to show their sex. and so far I'm a little disappointed. It looks like I'm only going to have 1 female AOS of the 3. And of the Agent Orange it looks like I'll have 2 of the 3. Although It looks like jack the ripper will be female, along with the 2 jack herer's. so 6 plants total, which is what i guessed, but i would like at least 2 ace of spades. oh well.
 
Getting a little itch to collect some pollen. Normally i just chop males but seeing as I've never tried breeding (or collecting pollen for that matter) I'll give it a try.

I'll have a male agent orange and 2 male ace of spades to collect pollen from. It would be nice if i could get pollen soon enough to pollinate a few branches this grow.

Im thinking "Agent Jack" (agent orange x jack the ripper)
"Full house" (Ace of spades x jack herer)
"Fruit-loops" (ace of spades x agent orange)

Now i know breeding is an art, and the chances of getting a 50/50 cross of the best genes of each plant. But if anyone has tips as to getting the best genes/phenotypes, feel free to share.

Im assuming id have to take clones of the females and back cross the seeds i create till i notcice the phenos i want.
Maybe i should ask this. Do any of you get good seeds from a simple 1 time cross.?
 
Yes, you can get good seeds from a one time cross of quality genetics, which you have. I bet you will be surprised at the quality of the plants you end up with as a result of the crosses. Just make sure you are careful to pollinate only the branches you want. Pollen can spread very easily. There will always be the odd dud of a cross, but it will be the exception generally and sometimes will be the best tasting/high even though it isn't the best yielder. Breeding isn't voodoo IMO.

I would cross the males that show sex first, smell the most/best when you rub the stems, and have the most squat/stout structure. Just my opinion...

Well theres some good news for the day. I was trying to find some info for these type of crosses. But as long as im bound to find some keepers im not worried.

I actually made a list of each plants characteristics last night. With those characteristics I found which males ill be crossing with each female.

Ill post a few pictures later of whats going on. The lights are off right now so I'm not gonna wake the ladies
