I'm very sorry everyone about the bad news. This doesn't even seem real. I'm really gonna miss the guy. Anyone know of a place where we can donate to maybe help his family with any expenses? I feel it's the least I could do. I have got my best genetics from him and he was my favorite weed celebrity. I will continue to run his genetics strong!

Rest in power Sub. We love and miss you.

Big up Weed Nerds. Communicating with y’all was a huge part of Subs life. He loved it. Thank you all.

Jill told me he died of natural causes in bed just didn’t wake up.

I got to spend a good deal of time with him. We are real life friends. He told me some great stories, and some sad ones. His adventure was epic, and terrible, and everything in between.

Idk what’s ok to retell and what’s not. I think most of his stories made their way onto weed nerd episodes. Im telling you this in the hopes that it helps you understand Subcool the real person. He was a true cannabis warrior and carried drug war scars with him.

Most know Sub did time. He has many epic stories about prison. Like having to beat someone’s ass the first day. Or teaching the inmates how to grow. Or running his own commissary. But the story that will never leave me is his prison bus ride from Wisconsin, where he was living/hiding from warrants.

He said it was cold asf in Wisconsin and he was dressed for it. And the condition of long distance prison bus rides is what you would expect. After a week chained on this prison bus, without sufficient food water or bathroom breaks, they made it to the south, and it was hot hot. He said his snow boots were filled to the top with sweat but he couldn’t take them off or change. He said it was worse than prison.

But this story isn’t what I wanted to share. Sub told me that when he falls asleep he dreams he’s back on that bus going to prison, sweating. He barely slept.

There will never be another like him. The way he carried a room. His “shit talking hat” at cups. But I’m glad he didn’t die behind bars. This man is the person who gave me the courage to become a public cannabis outlaw/activist. He inspired me. I value our time together, and I miss him. Matt Rize

Wow! Thank you for sharing your peace Matt. Like you, I too was inspired by his passion and devotion. Like sub, I also spent years of my life going thru the trials and tribulations of the war on drugs. I met Santa Ball in 2010 and flew out from the east coast to meet him and Jill. That choice forever changed my life, my heart, and my passions in life. I am forever indebted by his love, passion and generosity. I was set to meet back up with him March 1st in Mesa. My heart is forever broke that I never got to say goodbye and how much I loved him like a brother from another mother!

Life is forever a fleeting moment. A fragile moment. Please tell the ones you love that you love them every chance you can. Rest easy Sub! Until we meet again, I love you mang!

I had a friend about 8 years back who taught me everything I know about cannabis. He is the reason I am apart of it . He grew so many of subcool's strains and he is also the reason Sub is my absolute favorite breeder. I was lookin for my friend and didn't hear from him. So literally a couple weeks ago, I do an internet search for him, and I found out he has been dead for 4 years. It's sad that so much death is happening. Now another great person is gone. I just wanted to share my piece. Enjoy your loved ones. Be grateful. Toke up and enjoy life. Most importantly take it easy. From the bottom of my heart I love each and every one of you. I wish you many blessings.

P.S didn't mean to go on a rant
