Do you have experience with that particular 100w light? Otherwise, I would be skeptical until someone tested it out. I'd recommend spending a little more and getting something that's been well tested around here.

You have roughly 4.5 square feet and you want 40-50 watts per square foot if you're going to flower in that space. Puts your light needs at around 175-225 watts. That's actual draw from the wall watts, not the BS "equivalent to" watts that some cheap light companies list. Two small 100 watt panels would be nice as you can hang at different heights to customize the space. If getting one light I'd think about going closer to the 225-250 watt range to expand out the footprint of just using one. Best of luck with your new hobby.

The Diablo is way to big for your space. But HLG is a good brand with awesome customer support. They're on here too. It really depends how much you want to spend. One quantum board would work, or you could do 2 for a more even spread, but more $. Even one of these HLG 100's would work for only $83 after the BOXLAPSE 20% off code. The only thing about the 100 is it isn't dimmable, but that's not a big deal since you've got 6 feet.

You don't really need 50 watts per sq ft with LED. That's more for HID. I think 35-40 is plenty.

With the limited spread of cheaper LEDs and hot spots directly underneath them I think it's good to get more wattage and just dim the light to get a better spread. Just my opinion and I'm sure you can grow good weed at 30-40 watts a sq. ft. as well.

I like to spread them out and turn them down too. All my HLG's are set to 90 watts, except the 2 100's that don't dim. Those have a wider spread than the 288's and the diodes are a little softer. There's 5 288's and 2 100's in my closet. If I was him I would buy a couple 288's and dim them to 90 like mine are. That would give him 180 but he could turn them up or down if he wanted. But that would be like $250 and it sounds like he doesn't want to spend that. I like the multiple lights so I can adjust them all individually if I want.

I really need a new light setup for my veg tent. I will get 2 for the 2x4 tent once I figure out what to do with the two extra lights I have for big tents. I need to find someone looking to move to a bigger tent and swap my Timber COB light for a couple 150 watt lights.

Hey @boogskoosh , do yourself a favor and don't buy anything for a couple weeks. Do your research, ask questions, post which ones you are thinking about afterwards. Then wait for folks to chime in. Once you have done that it will be time for the 4/20 sales that are about to hit.

Oh yeah. I use a light like that for my seedlings and they don't even like it.

I use and recommend the above light, especially for newbies. It used to be $160 shipped but I wouldn't be surprised if they raised the price due to the demand. It's the shit. It doesn't get very hot, a fan pointed at the driver cools it to a nil. Samsung diodes, meanwell driver, dimmer switch, etc. I use it in a closet with NO VENITLATION and I get some top shelf nugs. Although its not an HPS and wont get you yields like that. You can check my grow link under my signature.
Others here will point you toward more expensive setups, grow tents, etc. A lot of them know their stuff. But like they all said, read. You'll begin to learn what works best for you and your situation..

The problem I have with the light you recommend is their lies. They call it a 2000w which is just a marketing play to dupe the uninformed. It's really a 210 watt and recommend it for a 4x4 space which is like 13 watts per square foot. It may well work great in a smaller space, I just don't like the false claims they make. It looks like it's made with quality parts, I have wonder why that make such bold claims about it.
I love my Scorpion Diablo X, especially with the UVA bar. Although for small space vegging I also enjoy their 250 W Veg Pro light. HLG has some really nice mid range lights that can flex you through both veg and flower if you go over their catalog carefully. They are some excellent lights.

I don't listen to any of these '2000' etc watt numbers. I know its bs. I can only attest to how the light works for me. It's a closet light if someone has no access to ventilation, doesn't want heat issues, and I'm blown away by the finished quality, much more than the yield. But I'm a lazy closet grower, the opposite of somebody looking to dial in every detail in a sterile grow tent environment.
That's the thing - I got two of these covering a 2ft x6ft area, with no ventilation, no holes in the door or wall, only a fan mounted at the hanger rod to blow air at the lights.... and there are no heat issues whatsoever. The lights are only warm to the touch. I tried a viper spectra or one of those more name brand lights and it got way too hot. The idea that I can grow like this, with no heat/ventilation issues, still puts a smile on my face...
If I get more space, which I might soon, I will run 1000 watt HPS lights with ventilation, I know that's how to get yield, even though it consumes more energy..
btw - your sour bubble is rocking it. i popped one - its got mega leaves, stalky, has zero smell though.. will update on my grow journal page, thank you again D D
