I have been going through 2.5 gallon jugs of Armor Si and decided that something had to give, wanted to stick to maxibloom so was scratching my head and realized my well water had a very high pH around 8.5 so I started searching Amazon for 0.1 micron filters and ran into this WaterDrop UF filter that claims 0.01 micron filtration. This filter doesn't remove tds but it removes all the smell and cloudy orange color I used to get from even 5 micron filtered well water. I just unplugged my RO membranes and went straight to the waterdrop then to my barrels. The water so far 24 hours later is still crystal clear, no smell, and when I mix my maxibloom at full strength I'm hitting around 6.2 pH. Absolutely perfect.. Had to share.

They make a larger unit that claims it can last for 24,000 gallons of water, this unit is for 16,000, the filter super easily twists right out of the housing for a replacement. If this thing works long-term then it will be an absolute game changer.

WaterDrop 15UC-UF is what I got, I'm going to be reaching out to their support team to see if I can put the model 17 replacement filter on this same housing. For now this one is rated for 16,000 gallons.

Why were you using so much Armour Si? It is alkaline so would raise the pH of your already high pH water.

You're not worried about the hardness of your water? That filter doesn't reduce TDS like the RO filter does as you mention. It's also not designed to reduce pH so if it does it's not mentioned in any of their literature. It also won't catch very small bacteria/virus but if you can drink your well water safely then it doesn't need to do that.

Our tap water is from a dugout on the property. I bought the parts for my own RO system but haven't hooked it up yet. The finest filter before the RO unit will be a 0.1µ carbon filter. After the RO is a UV sterilizer to make sure it's potable. Right now we're just filtering down to 5µ before it goes into the house system. I have a good aerator out there so the water is clear and odorless without carbon filters. Didn't have an aerator for a couple of winters and the water was gross. Grey and stunk like a swamp. Would put some bleach or 35% peroxide in to clear it up before a bath.

Another one of those jobs in the job jar bucket with all the rest. :)

I mix 50 gallons a day so it goes quick. It lasted longer than most pH up solutions and didn't cloud my reservoir. I prefer the water having minerals, calcium etc over the RO anyways, I just noticed this filter is actually capable of producing water that doesn't cloud up but still has some minerals etc.

I honestly dont think the plants care about cloudy water but when it comes to biofilms forming and weird orange water it's probably not good. lol

I have considered Ting in both filters RO & UF combined so its a blend to have less hard water.
